Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the molecular mechanisms associated with chromosome segregation errors caused by intrinsic oxidative stress during in vitro oocyte maturation (IVM) using oocytes from -deficient (KO) mice.
Methods: Ovulated or in vitro matured cumulus-cells oocyte complexes (COCs) were collected from wild-type (WT) and KO mice and evaluated chromosome alignment, chromosome segregation, meiotic progression, and BUBR1 and REC8 protein expression levels.
Results: In 21% O IVM, the KO had significantly higher frequencies of chromosome misalignment and segregation errors compared to the WT, and they also reached Germinal Vesicle Break Down (GVBD) and M I stages peak earlier and showed a shorter M I stage residence time compared to the WT.
Objective: Tapentadol causes fewer gastrointestinal adverse events than other potent opioid analgesics because of its low affinity for opioid receptors; however, development of symptoms related to central nervous system disorders, including delirium, has not been well-studied. This study aimed to identify the factors that influence the development of delirium after initiation of tapentadol therapy in hospitalized patients with cancer.
Design: Retrospective study.

Background: Oral food challenge (OFC) is the gold standard for diagnosing food allergies (FAs) but carries the risk of anaphylactic reaction. Stepwise OFC, starting with a low dose of allergen and progressing to medium and full doses, is effective in determining a tolerable dose. We retrospectively evaluated the results of a stepwise OFC for hen's egg (HE) to demonstrate its safety and efficacy.

However, acute kidney injury (AKI) resulting from renal pathologies secondary to caffeine intoxication is rare, and the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying AKI are unclear.
Case Presentation: A female patient in her 20s ingested an over-the-counter drug containing caffeine.

Japan's first commercial nuclear fuel reprocessing plant is expected to release radioiodine into the atmosphere, and orchard grass plants grown in the vicinity of this plant may absorb this radioiodine. In this study, we investigated the mechanism underlying the absorption and volatilization of iodine in the leaves of orchard grass. Our findings suggest that iodine can be transferred from the leaves of this grass to the atmosphere via two routes: direct volatilization and absorption followed by volatilization.

We investigated the behavior of stable Cs+ ions contained in droplets applied directly on the leaf surfaces of plumleaf crab apple trees (2-3 years old Malus domestica 'Alps Otome') at three different fruit growing stages: before bearing fruit, early fruit development and late fruit development stages. Most of the Cs was rapidly transferred from the leaf surfaces into the applied leaves after application, and then gradually transferred to the fruit through the branches. The mean proportion of Cs transferred to fruit by harvest time ranged from 11 to 30% not directly depending on the fruit growing stages.

Radiocesium deposition can occur at any time during the growth season. In this study, we used stable cesium (Cs) to investigate the changes in dry Cs deposits on surfaces of aboveground parts of Chinese yam (Dioscorea polystachya) during different growth stages.

The oral food challenge (OFC) of CM is important for the definite diagnosis of children with CM allergy, and it is recommended to be actively and safely performed in individuals with low CM-sIgE levels. This study aimed to investigate the safety of low-dose CM-OFC in individuals with low CM-sIgE levels and discuss the prognostic factors and appropriate approaches for assessing the starting doses of CM-OFC in these individuals.

We report a case of initially unresectable rectal cancer with metastases treated with laparoscopic and thoracoscopic staged resections after triplet chemotherapy plus bevacizumab.
Case: A 71-year-old man was referred to our hospital to examine the cause of constipation.

Introduction: Stepwise oral food challenge (OFC) tests begin with low doses of allergens and progress to full doses. We previously reported the safety and efficacy of stepwise OFC for reintroducing hen eggs. In this study, we discuss its application for cow's milk (CM) allergy.

Unlabelled: Objectives: Social jetlag (SJL), the discrepancy between an individual's inherent circadian rhythm and external social schedule, is associated with obesity. This study aimed to investigate whether SJL also influences body weight and body fat loss during dieting. Methods: This was an observational study from 2015 to 2018 with participants who had joined an exercise and nutrition program at a private personal training gym.

However, the factors that affect the discontinuation of treatment due to adverse events is uncertain. The dorsal muscle group area at the T12 vertebral level (T12DMA) assessed on computed tomography (CT) images has been reported to be associated with mortality in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other diseases.

However, accurate genetic testing requires a sufficient amount of tumor cells in the specimen. The evaluation of tumor content ratio (TCR) from hematoxylin and eosin (H&E)-stained images has been found to vary between pathologists, making it an important challenge to obtain an accurate TCR.

Background: Physical activity (PA) is associated with the risk of mortality in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); however, evidence is limited to the Japanese population. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of PA on long-term mortality in Japanese patients with COPD.
Methods: We conducted a prospective observational study in a cohort of Japanese patients with COPD and assessed mortality during a 4-year follow-up period.
Objective: Cancer patients with children are increasing; however, few studies have quantitatively assessed the parenting concerns of cancer patients with children. The Parenting Concerns Questionnaire was developed in the USA in 2012 and is the only instrument to measure the parenting concerns of cancer patients with children. This study aimed to develop a Japanese version of the Parenting Concerns Questionnaire and evaluate its reliability and validity.

This study investigated the effects of physical activity on outcomes in Japanese patients with COPD.
Methods: We conducted a prospective observational study in a cohort of Japanese patients with COPD between April 2018 and July 2020.

The metastasis of breast cancer to the gastrointestinal tract is rare. Herein, we presented the case of an 85-year-old woman who had a history of invasive lobular carcinoma and experienced complete colon rupture due to relatively low-energy trauma. The patient underwent bilateral total mastectomy and axillary dissection following preoperative chemotherapy 6 years ago.

Introduction: During an oral food challenge (OFC), there is a risk of adverse reactions, including anaphylaxis. Therefore, the physician should carefully conduct the OFC. This study aimed to evaluate the OFC results in individuals with low levels of egg white (EW)- and ovomucoid (OVM)-specific immunoglobulin E (sIgE) and the safety of a hen's egg (HE) OFC in these individuals.
