Glutaminase (GLS), a crucial gene regulating glutaminolysis, has received much attention as it was found to regulate tumor metabolism and copper-induced cell death. However, its biological roles and mechanisms in human cancers remain obscure. Consequently, the integrated pan-cancer analyses and biological experiments were conducted to elucidate its oncological functions.

The traditional approach typically involves selecting a working sub-band and maintaining it without further changes, with spectrum sensing being conducted periodically. However, this approach presents two main issues: on the one hand, if the selected working band has few idle channels, TDCS devices are unable to flexibly switch sub-bands, leading to reduced performance; on the other hand, periodic sensing consumes time and energy, limiting TDCS's transmission efficiency.

Methods: One hundred and forty patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy were randomized into a trial group (52 cases, 2 cases dropped out) and a control group (52 cases, 2 cases were eliminated). In the control group, the conventional anesthesia program and recovery intervention were adopted.
Background: Inflammation is one of the important pathophysiological characteristics of acute kidney injury (AKI) after cardiac surgery. The aim was to explore the relationship between preoperative neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), a simple and cost-effective maker of inflammatory response, and AKI after cardiac surgery. Furthermore, whether the NLR affected in-hospital mortality was also investigated.

While traditional therapies struggle, a functional hydrogel can effectively repair wounds. However, the use of hydrogels is limited due to their high swelling and excessive dehydration characteristics.

To date, the genetic etiology of POI has been elucidated in approximately 20-25% of the total cases. The human zona pellucida (ZP) plays an important role in the organization and differentiation of granulosa cells, follicle formation, and sperm recognition.

Plasma cytokine levels were measured and compared among patients with NTM pulmonary disease (n=111), tuberculosis (TB) patients (n=50), and healthy individuals (n=40). Changes during treatment were monitored at 3 and 6 months after treatment.

The absence of effective extracellular matrix to mimic the natural tumor microenvironment remains a significant obstacle in cancer research. Matrigel, abundant in various biological matrix components, is limited in its application due to its high cost. This has prompted researchers to explore alternative matrix substitutes.

We synthesized two commonly employed targeting systems, namely, ω-triphenylphosphonium fatty acids (group 2) and ω-triphenylphosphonium fatty alcohols (group 3), to assess the impact of the TPP module on the biological efficacy of mitochondria-targeting molecules. We evaluated their fungicidal activities against nine plant pathogenic fungi in comparison to alkyl-1-triphenylphosphonium compounds (group 1).

Coal type identification is the basic work of coal quality inspection, which is of great significance to the normal operation of power generation, metallurgy, and other industries. The traditional coal-type identification method is complicated and requires comprehensive determination of various chemical parameters to obtain more accurate analysis results. Hyperspectral detection and analysis technology has the advantages of being simple, fast, nondestructive, and safe, and is widely used in a variety of fields.

It represents a significant detriment to female fertility. However, the known POI-causative genes currently account for only a fraction of cases.

Methods: A matched case‒control study design with 50 gastric cancer patients and 50 controls was performed to sequence the different 5-hydroxymethylcytosine modification features of cell free DNA.
Little is known regarding the effects of xylooligosaccharides (XOS) on insulin resistance (IR) in gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). We aimed to investigate this issue and its mechanism. Sixty female mice were randomly allotted to 4 groups ( = 15): control, high fat diet (HFD), GDM, and GDM + XOS.

In this study, we systematically assessed indicative effects of signature lipidomic biomarkers (high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and triglycerides (TG)) on DSC (oesophagus, stomach, colorectal, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas cancers) risk.
Methods: HDL-C, LDL-C, and TG concentration measurements were respectively analyzed with enzyme immunoinhibition, enzymatic selective protection, and GPO-POD methods in AU5800 supplied from Beckman Coulter.

This study aimed to explore the associations of serological indicators of HBV infection with mortality risk among cancer survivors and further validated using a gastric cancer (GC) cohort from China, where HBV infection is endemic. National Center for Health Statistics' National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) data were used in this study.

HELQ deficiency leads to subfertility, due to its critical role in germ cell stability. In addition, the abnormal expression of HELQ has been observed in multiple tumors and a number of molecular pathways, including the nucleotide excision repair, checkpoint kinase 1‑DNA repair protein RAD51 homolog 1 and ATM/ATR pathways, have been shown to be involved in HELQ.

Background: Persistent acute kidney injury (AKI) after cardiac surgery is not uncommon and linked to poor outcomes.
Hypothesis: The purpose was to develop a model for predicting postoperative persistent AKI in patients with normal baseline renal function who experienced AKI after cardiac surgery.
Methods: Data from 5368 patients with normal renal function at baseline who experienced AKI after cardiopulmonary bypass cardiac surgery in our hospital were retrospectively evaluated.
Zika virus (ZIKV) infection in pregnant women during the third trimester can cause neurodevelopmental delays and cryptorchidism in children without microcephaly. However, the consequences of congenital ZIKV infection on fertility in these children remain unclear. Here, using an immunocompetent mouse model, we reveal that congenital ZIKV infection can cause hormonal disorders of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, leading to reduced fertility and decreased sexual preference.

A total of thousand five hundred and three participants had an aMAP score calculated at baseline and were followed up for about 10 years to obtain information on liver cancer incidence and death. After assessing the ability of aMAP to predict liver cancer incidence and death in terms of differentiation and calibration, the optimal risk stratification threshold of the aMAP score was explored, based on absolute and relative risks.
