Objective: To study the effect of Shuanghuangbu on the adhesion growth and proliferation of human periodontal ligament cells (HPDLCs) on the zein scaffold, and to study the feasibility of Shuanghuangbu zein used in the periodontal tissue engineering as a compound scaffold material.

Methods: HPDLCs were cultured in vitro using the explants adherent method. Shuanghuangbu Decoction was prepared using water extraction and alcohol precipitation method.

Aim: To investigate the role of the Chinese herbal medicine Xianhuayin on the reversal of 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (DMBA)-induced premalignant mucosal lesions in the oral buccal pouch of golden hamsters.

Methodology: The animals were randomly divided into a non-diseased control group (n=5) and an experimental group including 50 animals in which the buccal mucosa had been painted with DMBA (0.5% in acetone) to generate an oral mucosa premalignant lesion.

Background: Successful periodontal regeneration depends on the migration, proliferation and differentiation of periodontal ligament cells in periodontal defects. The total protein content and the ultrastructure demonstrate the metabolizability and activity of periodontal ligament cells. This study was conducted to observe the effects of Shuanghuangbu, a mixture of medicinal herbs, on the total protein content and the ultrastructure of human periodontal ligament cells.
