Article Synopsis
  • The study compares the effectiveness of flexible intramedullary nailing (FIN) and external fixation (EF) in treating pediatric femoral shaft fractures through a systematic review of controlled trials.
  • A total of six studies involving 237 patients were analyzed, revealing that EF had a lower rate of overall complications but a higher risk of soft tissue irritation compared to FIN.
  • The findings suggest that FIN results in fewer complications overall, indicating it could be the preferred treatment method for these types of fractures in children.
