Ferroptosis, an emerging type of programmed cell death, is initiated by iron-dependent and excessive ROS-mediated lipid peroxidation, which eventually leads to plasma membrane rupture and cell death. Many canonical signalling pathways and biological processes are involved in ferroptosis. Furthermore, cancer cells are more susceptible to ferroptosis due to the high load of ROS and unique metabolic characteristics, including iron requirements.

Although various cobalt-sulfide-based materials have been reported for the hydrogen evolution reaction, only a few have achieved high activity in both acid and alkaline electrolytes due to the inherent poor conductivity and low active sites. In this work, a heterojunction of cobalt sulfide and MoN is designed for efficient hydrogen evolution reactions in both acid and alkaline electrolytes. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy reveals that Mo-S bonds are formed at the interface between MoN and CoS, which result in the fabricated MoN/CoS materials exhibiting a considerably enhanced hydrogen evolution reaction activity than the corresponding MoN, CoS, and most reported Mo- and Co-based catalysts in electrolytes of HSO and KOH solutions.

In single-molecule force spectroscopy, the unbinding force is often used to quantify the interaction strength of single molecular bonds. We analyze force spectroscopy of fast reversible bonds probed in thermodynamic equilibrium by considering the dynamics of force probe and molecular linker.
