Soil organic carbon (SOC) variation is a significant indicator for the soil quality dynamic and global carbon cycle. Therefore, it is necessary to study the regional temporal and spatial distribution of SOC pool and the influencing factors. In this study, a total of 540 soil data and environmental variables were collected from Shaanxi Province during a 30-year period from 1985 to 2015, and univariate analysis of variance and path analysis were used to explore the temporal and spatial distribution characteristics of SOC content and the influencing factors of SOC change.

Objective: To investigate the changes of nocturnal erectile function and functional connectivity (FC) of bilateral thalami in insomniac ED patients with yin deficiency and fire syndrome.

Methods: We enrolled 30 healthy controls and 87 ED patients with yin deficiency and fire syndrome, 41 with and the other 46 without insomnia. Using IIEF-5 and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), we evaluated the nocturnal erectile function and sleep quality of the patients and compared the clinical indicators between the two groups.

The hippocampus, retrosplenial cortex and anterior thalamus are key components of a neural circuit known to be involved in a variety of memory functions, including spatial, contextual and episodic memory. In this review, we focus on the role of this circuit in contextual memory processes. The background environment, or context, is a powerful cue for memory retrieval, and neural representations of the context provide a mechanism for efficiently retrieving relevant memories while avoiding interference from memories that belong to other contexts.

The present study aimed to investigate the expression and significance of the mRNA of genes associated with autophagy and long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) GAS5 in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). The mRNA levels of microtubule-associated protein light chain 3 (LC3), Beclin1, autophagy-related gene (ATG)3, ATG5, ATG12, ATG 16 ligand 1 (ATG16L1) and lncRNA growth arrest-specific 5 (GAS5) in PBMCs from 60 patients with AS and 30 healthy controls (HC) were examined by reverse transcription-quantitative PCR. The correlations between the levels of LC3, Beclin1, ATG3, ATG5, ATG12 and ATG16L1 mRNA as well as lncRNA GAS5 levels with disease activity and laboratory parameters in patients with AS were determined by Spearman correlation analysis.

Current animal models of nerve root compression due to lumbar disc herniation only assess the mechanical compression of nerve roots and the inflammatory response. Moreover, the pressure applied in these models is static, meaning that the nerve root cannot be dynamically compressed. This is very different from the pathogenesis of lumbar disc herniation.

A Nocardia-like actinobacterial strain, designated YIM TG2190, was isolated from rhizosphere soil of Psammosilene tunicoides collected from Gejiu, Yunnan province, China. The cells of strain YIM TG2190 were observed to be Gram-stain positive and non-motile. The strain forms extensively branched substrate mycelia that fragments into rod-shaped elements.

The bioreducible star-shaped gene vector (POSS-(SS-PDMAEMA)8) with well-defined structure and relatively narrow molecular weight distribution was synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of (2-dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA) from a polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) macroinitiator. POSS-(SS-PDMAEMA)8 was composed of a biocompatible POSS core and eight disulfide-linked PDMAEMA arms, wherein the PDMAEMA chain length could be adjusted by controlling polymerization time. POSS-(SS-PDMAEMA)8 can effectively bind pDNA into uniform nanocomplexes with appropriate particle size and zeta potential.
