A Simple Method for the Acquisition and Transmission of Brassica Yellows Virus from Transgenic Plants and Frozen Infected Leaves by Aphids.

Brassica yellows virus (BrYV) is a tentative species of the genus , which occurs widely, and mostly damages plants in East Asia. Because BrYV cannot be transmitted mechanically, an insect-based transmission method is required for further virus research. Here, a reliable and unrestricted method is described, in which non-viruliferous aphids () acquired BrYV from transgenic , harboring the full-length viral genome germinated from seeds and its frozen leaves.

Huxie Huaji Ointment Induced Apoptosis of Liver Cancer Cells In Vivo and In Vitro by Activating the Mitochondrial Pathway.

Huxie Huaji (HXHJ) Ointment is a famous traditional Chinese medicinal prescription and is commonly used for the clinical treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma by boosting immunity and detoxification. However, the scientific evidence for the effect of HXHJ Ointment on hepatocellular carcinoma and the underlying molecular mechanism are lacking. The present study aimed to identify the effects of HXHJ Ointment on hepatocellular carcinoma in vitro and in vivo as well as investigating the mechanistic basis for the anticancer effect of HXHJ ointment.

Optimization of a Rhabdomyolysis Model in Mice With Exertional Heat Stroke Mouse Model of EHS-Rhabdomyolysis.

Exertional heat stroke (EHS) is a life-threatening disease characterized by high mortality and incidence of rhabdomyolysis (RM). It would therefore be valuable to establish a stable EHS-induced RM model that accurately reflects the clinical characteristics of EHS patients and provides an objective animal model for further study of the pathogenesis of RM. In the current study, 8∼9-week-old, male, wild-type C57BL/6J mice, at the stage of sexual maturity, were randomly divided into four groups: the EHS group, the classical heat stroke (CHS) group, the sham heat exercise group, and sham heat rest group.

Application of Zizao Yangrong Granules for Treating Targeted Drugs-Related Skin Xerosis: A Randomized Double-Blinded Controlled Study.

Dermatologic toxicities are the most common side effects associated with the targeted drugs epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitors (EGFRIs), in which xerosis commonly complicated by pruritus severely disturbs the quality of life. The study has observed the curative effect of Zizao Yangrong granules (ZYG) from Chishui Xuanzhu in the treatment of EGFRIs-related xerosis and pruritus, as well as evaluating the safety of the prescription. Patients (n = 68) who had xerosis after using EGFRIs were enrolled and then randomly divided into the treatment group and control group, respectively, receiving ZYG and placebo granules combined with vitamin E ointment.

[Treatment of EGFRIs-related Skin Adverse Reactions by Zhiyang Pingfu Lotion].

Objective To observe the curative effect of Zhiyang Pingfu Lotion (ZPL) for its ex- ternal application in treatment of epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitors (EGFRIs)-related acneiform rash, cutaneous pruritus , xerosis cutis , and nail changes , as well as to evaluate its safety and patients' satisfaction. Methods Recruited were 201 patients with confirmed pathological diagnosis, who had acne- iform rash after using EGFRIs. They were assigned to the treatment group (131 cases) and the control group (70 cases) by random digit table.
