Protein phosphorylation introduces negative charges on the hydroxyl groups of serine, threonine, and tyrosine residues, reducing the ionization efficiency of phosphorylated peptides. The low abundance of phosphorylated peptides often diminishes their detection using mass spectrometry. To enhance the identification of the low-abundance peptides, an enrichment step was often used, which complicated the high-throughput analysis of phosphorylated proteomes.

The extracellular vesicles derived from plant-based diets have shown promise in mitigating disease. Here, we discovered that natural extracellular vesicles from tea (TEVs) can achieve an appropriate transition from proinflammatory (M1) to anti-inflammatory (M2) macrophages and inhibit inflammation response both in vitro and in vivo.

Herein, a microporous metal-organic framework (MOF) material namely Ca-TCPB [HTCPB: 1,2,4,5-tetrakis(4-carboxyphenyl)-benzene] with three-dimensional (3D) structure was synthesized via simple solvothermal method. The Ca-TCPB served as fiber coating of solid-phase microextraction (SPME) to extract and enrich PAHs prior to gas chromatography analysis.

In this study, ten choline chloride (ChCl)-based mixtures were selected for extracting flavonoids from Houttuynia cordata. Then, the optimal conditions for the DES-based extraction of flavonoids (HCFs) were determined through one-way experiments and response surface optimization (RSM).

A staging cardiac damage has been recently proposed that provided prognostic value in patients underwent TAVR, and left atrial volume index (LAVi) is a significant indicator of left heart damage. This study aimed to investigate the prognostic significance of LAVi in patients with severe AS after TAVR.

However, TBX4's down-stream targets and the molecular and cellular pathways these targets regulate remain largely unknown in PAH. We combined RNA-seq and ChIP-seq results to identify TBX4 direct targets in lung fibroblasts and pericytes, respectively.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the clinical effectiveness of an evidence-based nursing protocol for preventing and managing mechanical complications of EN for patients admitted to the neurology ICU.
Unlabelled: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic gastrointestinal condition with increasing global prevalence. Current therapies are limited, leading to exploration of novel treatments like Pu-erh tea, a fermented tea recognized for its health benefits. This study shows that long-term consumption of Pu-erh tea significantly reduces IBD symptoms in DSS-induced mice by moderating inflammation and enhancing oxidative responses in the colon.

Sensitive and efficient analytical methods are in demand for their detection. In this study, we developed a TAPB-DMTP-covalent organic framework (COF) nanofilm-assisted laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry (LDI-MS) method for the quantitative analysis of 2,4-dihydroxybenzophenone (BP-1) in PCPs.

We hypothesised that TXYF would improve clinical responses among patients with IBS-D.
Design: A randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase II, superiority trial.
Background: The International Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma Grading System (IMTCGS) was recently introduced in medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC). This study aimed to assess the predictive value of the IMTCGS for disease response and survival, and compare its predictive ability with that of other traditional risk factors in a Chinese MTC cohort.
Methods: The data of 137 MTC patients undergoing initial surgery between January 2004 and June 2023 were included for analysis.
Ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs) have been commonly prescribed for stroke survivors with foot drop, but their impact on the contractions of paretic tibialis anterior (TA) and medial gastrocnemius (MG) has remained inconclusive. This study thus investigated the effect of AFOs on these muscle contractions in stroke survivors. The contractions of paretic TA and MG muscles were assessed in twenty stroke patients and compared between walking with and without AFOs, using a novel wearable dynamic ultrasound imaging and sensing system.

Introduction: The involvement of thyroid hormone in cardiovascular disease remains debated. The aim of our research was to ascertain whether thyroid hormone sensitivity indices are related to carotid plaque (CAP) risk in the general population.
Methods: We recruited 5,360 participants for health examinations to explore the correlation between thyroid hormone sensitivity indices and CAP risk.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the risk factors and predictors of non-obese fatty liver disease in the Chinese population.
Patients And Methods: A total of 6,014 adults who underwent physical examinations at Union Hospital of Huazhong University of Science and Technology from March 2019 to March 2023 were included in this study. Fatty liver disease was diagnosed based on at least two of the following criteria: diffuse echo patterns relative to the liver, spleen, and kidney; ultrasonic beam attenuation; and poor intrahepatic visual details.

The rising prevalence of global antibiotic resistance evokes the urgent requirement to explore the alternative antimicrobial candidates. It is of great significance to overcome these serious threats of multidrug-resistant bacterial infections and difficult-to-heal cutaneous wounds to human health. Herein, we proposed a rapidly in situ forming innovative antibiotic-free hydrogel dressing with excellent biocompatibility, easy injectability, strong tissue adhesion and superior antibacterial activity against drug-resistant bacteria.

Objective: The pivotal role of mitophagy in the initiation and progression of intervertebral disc (IVD) degeneration (IDD) has become increasingly apparent due to a growing body of research on its pathogenesis. This review summarizes the role of mitophagy in IDD and the therapeutic potential of targeting this process.
Design: This narrative review is divided into three parts: the regulatory mechanisms of mitophagy, the role of mitophagy in IDD, and the applications and prospects of mitophagy for the treatment of IDD.
Radiotherapy is important in treating esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) comprehensively. Resistance to radiotherapy is a prominent factor contributing to treatment failure in patients with ESCC. The objective of this study was to investigate the impact of ML385, an inhibitor of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (NRF2), on the radiosensitivity of ESCC and elucidate its underlying mechanism.
