Considering that typically more than two pin diodes or other tunable elements are required in the unit cell of polarization-insensitive reconfigurable metasurfaces (RMs), this paper proposes a new approach to design a polarization-insensitive RM unit using only one VO chip. A polarization-insensitive phase-modulated metasurface (PMM) using single VO chip is presented. The surface layer is composed of an outer ring and an inner cross, with a VO chip loaded at the connection of the cross.

Method: To retrospectively describe the genotype and phenotype of Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophies (BMD) patients with deletions and duplicates in the dystrophin gene. The sensitivity and specificity of the reading frame rule were calculated and compared to that of the combined reading frame rule and walking alone milestone.
The determination approaches of Fe (â…¢) in biological samples were developed by a novel water-soluble silicon nanoparticles (SiNPs). The SiNPs were synthesized by a facile microwave-assisted method, and simultaneously featured strong blue fluorescence (photoluminescence quantum yield: 25.2%), long lifetime (~13.

Rationale: Acute encephalopathy with biphasic seizures and late reduced diffusion (AESD) has been reported almost exclusively in the Japanese population.
Patient Concerns: A 17-month-old male patient presented with fever and seizures, and subsequently fell into a coma. On the second day, he recovered consciousness.
NF-E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) is a key transcription factor recently implicated in the control of radiation-induced lung fibrosis (RILF). However, the molecular mechanism of Nrf2 in the pathogenesis of RILF is still unclear. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the regulatory effect and mechanism of Nrf2 in the pathogenesis of RILF.

The purpose of our study was to explore the role of Nrf2 in the radiation resistance of ESCC and the potential molecular mechanism.
Results: Nrf2 expression was introduced into Ec109 and KYSE-30 ESCC cells with lentivirus.
This study aims at examining the level of biogenic amines (BAs) in different kinds of sufu commonly consumed in China. The correlation between different BAs and physical and chemical index in sufu samples was also investigated. The results proved that different processing technologies altered the distribution of BAs in commercial sufu.

As an important property for reflecting the binding forces between atoms, the Debye temperature of nanocrystals can be tuned by size, dimensionality and composition. In order to understand how these factors influence the Debye temperature, in this contribution, a new nanothermodynamic model without any adjustable parameter was established by considering the surface stress and bond number simultaneously. As expected, the Debye temperature decreases with a decrease in size if the dimensionality is given, while the size effect on nanowires is stronger than that on thin films and weaker than that on nanoparticles.

The present study investigated whether liquiritin suppresses UVB‑induced skin injury in vivo and in vitro using SKH‑1 hairless mice and HACAT cells, respectively. The animals were exposed to UVB irradiation (180 mJ/cm2) for 20 min, followed by liquiritin treatment.

Objectives: To evaluate the therapeutic effect on the voice recovery of patients with vocal cord polyps undergoing the microsurgery of preoperative voice therapy.
Methods: Twenty-six patients diagnosed with unilateral vocal cord polyp under stroboscope, who needed to undergo vocal cord loss resection under supportive laryngoscope, were randomly divided into control group (non-voice training) and treatment group (voice training), with each group of 13 patients. Patients in control group were just treated with surgical operation.
Objective: The objective of this study was to provide a theoretical basis for the selection of optimal surgical procedures in ex vivo simulated bilateral vocal fold paralysis (BVFP).
Study Design: Four surgical stages were sequentially performed on 10 excised canine larynges with simulated BVFP: (1) transverse cordotomy, (2) medial arytenoidectomy, (3) subtotal arytenoidectomy, and (4) total arytenoidectomy.
Materials And Methods: The sound pressure level, the signal-to-noise ratio, the glottal resistance, the glottal airflow (GF), the maximal glottal area (MGA), and spectrograms were measured after each stage.

Alagille syndrome (ALGS), also known as arteriohepatic dysplasia, is an autosomal dominant disease with multisystem involvement. In this disease, the Notch signalling pathway is impaired due to mutation in JAG1 (ALGS type 1) or NOTCH2 (ALGS type 2) gene, affecting multiple organs or systems such as liver, heart, eyes, vertebrate and face. The main clinical features of ALGS include chronic cholestasis, congenital heart disease, mild vertebral segmentation abnormalities, characteristic face, postcorneal embryotoxon and poor kidney development.

In the present study, cryo-injury to shoot tips and genetic stability in regenerants recovered from cryopreserved shoot tips by the three vitrification-based protocols were further investigated. The results showed that sucrose preculture caused no obviously different injuries, while dehydration with plant vitrification solution 2 (PVS2) was the step causing major damage to cells of shoot tips, regardless of the cryogenic procedures.

LC-MS/MS method was used to determine the drug concentration in plasma and calculate the pharmacokinetic parameters. [3H]-paclitaxel was used to reveal the tissue distributions of different organs in 0.

The analyses of SLC25A13 gene and its protein/mRNA products remain reliable tools for the definitive diagnoses of CD patients, and so far, the SLC25A13 mutation spectrum in Chinese CD patients has not been well-characterized yet.
Methods And Results: By means of direct DNA sequencing, cDNA cloning and SNP analyses, 16 novel pathogenic mutations, including 9 missense, 4 nonsense, 1 splice-site, 1 deletion and 1 large transposal insertion IVS4ins6kb (GenBank accession number KF425758), were identified in CTLN2 or NICCD patients from China, Japan and Malaysia, respectively, making the SLC25A13 variations worldwide reach the total number of 81.

The structures were characterized by using NMR ( (1)H, (13)C, (1)H- (1)H COSY, HMQC, HMBC, and NOESY) and mass spectrometry. The neuroprotective activity of the compounds 1 - 4 was assayed with primary cultured neurons exposed to oxygen-glucose deprivation and oxidative insults.
