Diarrheal irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D) is a chronic functional bowel disease with no clear diagnostic markers and no satisfactory treatment strategies. In recent years, the importance of intestinal microstructure and function in IBS-D has been emphasized. However, the intestinal tissue proteomics of IBS-D patients has not been analyzed.

Objective: The objective of our study was to retrospectively evaluate the efficacy of combined analysis of T2-weighted imaging and DWI in the diagnosis of parametrial invasion (PMI) in cervical carcinoma.

Materials And Methods: The clinical records of 192 patients with cervical carcinoma who met the study requirements were reviewed for this retrospective study. The signal intensities of suspicious PMI tissue were assessed on T2-weighted images, DW images, and apparent diffusion coefficient maps independently by two experienced radiologists.

Enantiomorphism and enantioselectivity are critical in biology and many other applications. Herein, we report two 3D chiral MOFs {[Zn(MIDPPA)(1,2,4-btc)(NO)(HO)](HO)} (1L and 1R) based on achiral ligands with high enantiomeric excess and a novel topological type. The internal mechanism of spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking, during the crystallization of chiral MOFs based on achiral ligands, is elucidated for the first time from both structural and theoretical aspects.

The present article reports a novel biosensor for organophosphorus pesticides based on fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) between nitrogen-doped carbon dots (NC-dots) and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). The effective NC-dots/AuNPs assembly through the Au-N interaction results in good fluorescence quenching. Active acetylcholinesterase (AChE) catalyzes the hydrolysis of acetylthiocholine into -SH containing thiocholine to replace the NC-dots and trigger the aggregation of AuNPs.

Three different Co-MOFs, [Co3(L)2(DPDP)]n (1), [Co(HL)(DPDP)]n (2) and {[Co(HL)(1/2DPDP)3(H2O)]·H2O}n (3) (H3L = 4,4',4''-(nitrilotris(methylene))tribenzoic acid, DPDP = 4,4'-(2,5-dibutoxy-1,4-phenylene)dipyridine) have been co-crystallized in a one-pot reaction. Based on the significant differences between the three structures, we adopt solvents to ultimately regulate acquisition of pure crystals of the three compounds.

Purpose: To determine the effect of intravenous administration of gadolinium (Gd) contrast medium (Gd-DTPA) on diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) for the evaluation of normal brain parenchyma vs. brain tumor following a short temporal interval.

Materials And Methods: Forty-four DWI studies using b values of 0 and 1000 s/mm(2) were performed before, immediately after, 1 min after, 3 min after, and 5 min after the administration of Gd-DTPA on 62 separate lesions including 15 meningioma, 17 glioma and 30 metastatic lesions.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of MRI compared to CT in monitoring patients with hepatocellular carcinomas that were treated using radiofrequency ablation (RFA).
  • MRI showed significantly higher diagnostic accuracy and reliability compared to CT, as indicated by better sensitivity, specificity, and predictive values. The interobserver agreement rate for MRI was also notably higher.
  • Overall, the results concluded that MRI is a more effective imaging tool than CT for assessing RFA margins in patients with liver cancer.
