In order to disintegrate nuclear fuel rods in the grid connection structure, a 10 kW fiber laser was used to cut a stainless steel simulation component with four layers of 3 mm thick plates and 12 mm gaps. The slit width is regarded as an important indicator to evaluate the cutting quality of the four-layer stainless steel plate. The results showed that good laser cutting quality can be successfully achieved under the proper process parameters.

Southern Shaanxi is one of China's high-quality congou black tea production areas. However, the differences in geography, cultivation, and management techniques and production processes lead to uneven qualities of southern Shaanxi congou black tea in different production areas. This study used sensory analysis combined with gas chromatography-ion mobility spectrometry (GC-IMS) to determine southern Shaanxi congou black teas' geographical origin and volatile fingerprints to prevent economic losses caused by fraudulent labeling.

In this paper, we propose a suboptimal distributed cooperative control scheme for the continuous-time linear multi-agent system (MAS) with a specified global quadratic cost functional over both undirected and directed graph scenarios. For undirected graphs, we first derive the cost functional for a given strictly linear feedback distributed protocol. It is shown that the cost functional is upper bounded by a quadratic form of the MAS's initial state, and the minimum upper bound can be derived by solving a parametric algebraic Riccati equation (PARE) depends solely on the algebraic connectivity of the graph and is independent of the largest eigenvalue compared with the existing work.

While therapeutic strategies targeting epigenetic dysregulation hold promise for leukemia, epigenetic drugs face several limitations, including low utilization rates, the emergence of resistance, and off-target effects. The hypoxic microenvironment in leukemia further impairs drug sensitivity. Here, we synthesized an MOF-based erythrocyte biomimetic nanoplatform to enhance immune responses against leukemia by targeting three epigenetic modifications.

Article Synopsis
  • The mechanisms by which plant viral proteases interact with host proteins and influence virus-host dynamics are not fully understood, particularly in potyviruses, the largest group of RNA viruses affecting plants.
  • Research shows that the protease NIa-Pro from the turnip mosaic virus (TuMV) is crucial for inducing hypersensitive cell death in the plant Nicotiana benthamiana by targeting and degrading the host protein DBP5.
  • Additionally, findings reveal that the TuMV-encoded nuclear inclusion b can mitigate NIa-Pro-induced cell death by interacting with DBP5, suggesting complex roles for viral proteases in disrupting host immunity.

Diabetic wounds have become a global healthcare burden owing to impaired angiogenesis and persistent infections. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) can improve diabetic wounds, though their targeting ability is limited. In this study, we investigated the performance of a novel hydrogel dressing comprised of gelatin methacryloyl, glycoengineered EVs, and polylysine in treating infected diabetic wounds.

Background: Many studies have indicated that hyperuricemia is positively correlated with secondary deep venous thrombosis (DVT); however, the risk factors for idiopathic DVT based on gender differences, such as serum uric acid (SUA) and hyperuricemia, have not been fully examined.

Objectives: To investigate the association between hyperuricemia and the occurrence of idiopathic lower extremity DVT based on gender differences.

Methods: This was a retrospective analysis of 4299 patients who were hospitalized at the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University from January 2012 to October 2021 and who underwent ultrasound of the lower limbs.

Disposable electrochemical biosensors with high sensitivity are very fit for point-of-care testing in clinical diagnosis. Herein, amino-functionalized, vertically ordered mesoporous silica films (NH-VMSF) attached to an electrochemically polarized screen-printed carbon electrode (p-SPCE) are prepared using a simple electrochemical method and then utilized to construct a gated electrochemical aptasensor for rapid and sensitive determination of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). After being treated with the electrochemical polarization procedure, p-SPCE has plentiful oxygen-containing groups and improved catalytic ability, which help promote the stability of NH-VMSF on SPCE without the use of an adhesive layer and simultaneously generate a highly electroactive sensing interface.

Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is a reliable biomarker for various diseases, making the development of new detection methods highly significant. Herein, we report a simple and accurate dual-signal optical detection strategy for measuring ALP activity across the entire clinical range in adults. Based on this, we designed a smartphone app to eliminate the limitations of large instruments, enabling real-time field detection.

The interest of Chinese consumers in meat-free sausages has increased considerably due to their health benefits, but the aroma quality is far from reaching the traditional fermented meat sausages. This study evaluated the aroma characterization of Sichuan and Cantonese sausages using electronic nose (E-nose), gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), gas chromatography-olfactometry (GC-O), odor activity values (OAVs) and metagenomic. Ninety-eight volatile compounds were identified.

Asthenospermia is a type of sperm that has malformed sperm with movement disorders that lead to male infertility. DNAH9 is a member of the dynein family and a central part of the outer dynein arm of cilia and flagella. DNAH9 gene defects are associated with primary ciliary dyskinesia and ultrastructural abnormalities in ciliary axial ultrastructure.

During the process of detecting gravitational waves in space, addressing noise issues caused by terrestrial vibrations, natural environmental changes, and the factors intrinsic to the detectors, this paper proposes a multiscale variational mode adaptive denoising algorithm based on momentum gradient descent. This algorithm integrates momentum factors and multiscale concepts into the variational mode algorithm to resolve the issue of multiple local optima encountered during operation, reduce oscillations in regions with large or unstable gradient changes, and improve convergence speed. Additionally, the algorithm combines the least mean squares algorithm to automatically adjust weights, thereby mitigating the impact of noise, addressing the issue of noise from multiple and random sources, effectively suppressing noise in the gravitational wave signal, and enhancing the quality and reliability of the gravitational wave signal.

Introduction: Atherosclerosis (AS) is considered the underlying cause of many diseases, particularly cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Inulin, a type of fructan, has shown potential in improving atherosclerosis, although there are conflicting findings. It is hypothesized that the polymerization degree of inulin may largely influence its therapeutic effectiveness.
