Clinical outcomes of unicompartmental knee arthroplasty and total knee arthroplasty in the same patient.

Background: Osteoarthritis has become the predominant manifestation of arthritic conditions on a worldwide scale and serves as a significant instigator of pain, impairment, and increasing socio-economic strain on a global level. The ongoing discourse on the choice between total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) for patients suffering from anterior medial osteoarthritis continues to ignite scholarly controversy. Our objective was to assess and compare the clinical outcomes of UKA and TKA within the same patient, hereby offering a novel perspective on this topic.

Profile of cotton flavonoids: Their composition and important roles in development and adaptation to adverse environments.

Cotton is a commercial crop that is cultivated in more than 50 countries. The production of cotton has severely diminished in recent years owing to adverse environments. Thus, it is a high priority of the cotton industry to produce resistant cultivars to prevent diminished cotton yields and quality.

Five terpenoids from the gum resin of Boswellia carterii and their cytotoxicity.

One undescribed tetracyclic triterpene (boswellicarin A), four undescribed pentacyclic triterpenes (boswellicarterins A-C) and one undescribed prenylaromadendrane-type diterpene (boscarterin A) were isolated from the gum resin of Boswellia carterii Birdw. (Burseraceae). Their structures were elucidated from NMR and HRESIMS spectroscopic data and ECD spectra.

The sympathetic postganglionic and sensory innervation of oviducal magnum in hen: a choleratoxin subunit B-conjugated horseradish peroxidase study.

The anatomy of the extrinsic innervation of the avian magnum has not been accurately demonstrated previously. In the present study, choleratoxin subunit B-conjugated horseradish peroxidase (CB-HRP) was used as a retrograde tracer to determine the sympathetic postganglionic and sensory innervation of the magnum of hens. With regard to the sympathetic postganglionic innervation, following CB-HRP injections under the serosa of the magnum, CB-HRP-positive neurons were found bilaterally in the C12-LS13 ganglia of the sympathetic chain, splanchnic ganglia and adrenal ganglia.
