The present study was performed to evaluate the expression and function of P-glycoprotein (P-gp) encoded the multidrug resistance type I (MDR1) gene, protecting from xenotoxics, in porcine oocyte during in vitro maturation. Cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) were cultured to obtain the germinal vesicle (GV), first metaphase and second metaphase (MII) oocytes. The P-gp function was assessed by means of the rhodamine 6G (R6G) efflux from oocytes with P-gp inhibitors such as verapamil and PSC-833.

In this paper, two monoclonal antibodies against GPC3, GPC3-C02 and A1836A, were confirmed to specifically recognize GPC3 molecule in cells from hepatocellular carcinoma and hepatoblastoma cell lines by immunoblotting, and both were confirmed to recognize different epitopes of the GPC3 molecule by epitope mapping. Then, we evaluated the feasibility of GPC3-immunohistochemistry in the pathological diagnosis of benign and malignant hepatocellular lesions by applying these monoclonal antibodies to formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded specimens.

We used a complete set of Allium fistulosum - shallot (A. cepa Aggregatum group) monosomic addition lines (FF+1A - FF+8A) to identify shallot chromosomes affecting the production of sugars. In the alien addition lines grown over two years in an experimental field at Yamaguchi University (34 degrees N, 131 degrees E), shallot chromosomes 2A and 8A altered sugar contents in leaf-bunching onion (A.

Methods: We used a tourniquet technique to temporally shut off blood flow through the uterine and ovarian vessels at the level of the uterine cervix. The tourniquet consisted of manual compression followed by a rubber tube.
First and second backcrosses of amphidiploid hybrids (2n = 4x = 32, genomes AAFF) between shallot (Allium cepa Aggregatum group) and A. fistulosum were conducted to produce A. cepa - A.

Direct and methylation-pyrolysis-GC analysis suggested the incorporation of long-chain carboxylate in HA in the tidelands.

The present study was performed to evaluate RNA interference (RNAi) in porcine granulosa cells stimulated with bovine FSH, by using two fluorescence reporter genes: a plasmid encoding green fluorescent protein (GFP) and a plasmid encoding red fluorescent protein (RFP). The siRNA targeting GFP mRNA sequence (GFP-siRNA) with both plasmids was introduced into cultured cells by lipofection.

Oxidative stress is a major pathogenetic factor in hepatic fibrosis. Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARalpha) is a nuclear receptor which is known to affect oxidative stress and PPARalpha ligands may have rescue effects on hepatic fibrosis. We tested this hypothesis using rat thioacetamide (TAA) models of liver cirrhosis.

CCR6 is the receptor of chemokine CCL20. In the present study, we demonstrated that the surface expression of CCR6 was enhanced on the human HCC cell lines (HuH7, PLC/PRF/5, and HepG2) especially on HuH7 cells, but not on HLE or HLF cells. These HCC cell lines (HuH7, PLC/PRF/5, and HepG2) especially the HuH7 cells secreted a significant amount of CCL20 spontaneously, whereas HLE or HLF did not.

Methods: Twenty patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis and 18 patients with simple steatosis were enrolled, and their clinical characteristics and histological findings were compared. Detection of GBV-C RNA and SENV DNA was performed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

Methods: Sperm (n = 20) were cultured with IL-6 or sIL-6R, or with a combination of both.
A 33 year old man was admitted to hospital six days after the onset of abdominal pain. There was hypereosinophilia, but the cause could not be identified (primary hypereosinophilia). The hypereosinophilia, high C reactive protein concentration, and gastrointestinal symptoms were alleviated by corticosteroid treatment.

Endometrial stromal cells were derived from CAR and ICAR of nonpregnant cows, and their proliferative potential was analyzed in an in vitro cell culture system. In addition, expression of four types of cell cycle regulatory molecules was analyzed by RT-PCR in samples of CAR, ICAR, cotyledon (COT) and fetal membrane of both artificially inseminated (AI) and somatic nuclear transferred (NT) cows on days 30 and 60 of gestation.

This study first focused on the effect of BL-I on the time course of GVBD and progression to metaphase II (MII) in oocytes after the removal of BL-I. When porcine oocytes were treated with 20 microM BL-I for 28 h, the intervals taken to undergo GVBD and progress to MII were 4-8 h and 16-20 h after washing out BL-I, respectively.
