Purpose: Parathyroid lipoadenomas are difficult to recognize preoperatively; hence, they may remain undetected. Difficulty in recognition is thought to be due to the adipocytes present in the tumor. This study aimed to clarify the impact of adipocytes as a component of parathyroid adenomas on ultrasound evaluation.

In this study, we separated and purified collagen from adipose tissue discarded during liposuction and prepared collagen-coated dishes. After collagen was identified from human adipose tissue, type identification and quantification were performed using SDS-PAGE and FPLC.

Material And Methods: The medical records of patients with intracranial DAVFs treated with trans-arterial embolization (TAE) using Onyx from the OA were retrospectively reviewed.
Results: Seven patients were included.
We report here two patients exhibiting a combination of falsely elevated serum levels of free thyroxine (FT4), free triiodothyronine (FT3), and thyrotropin receptor antibodies (TRAb), measured using Elecsys assay kits (Roche Diagnostics GmbH). The first patient was a 74-year-old man misdiagnosed with Graves' disease and treated with methimazole. The second patient was a 48-year-old woman whose serum FT4 and FT3 concentrations were found to be high during a blood test.

A bronchoscopy confirmed the diagnosis of adenocarcinoma of the lung, classified as cT2bN2M0 stage IIIA, with a deletion mutation in exon 19. Weekly carboplatin plus paclitaxel was administered in combination with thoracic radiotherapy, followed by maintenance therapy with durvalumab for 1 year.

Furthermore, it makes the surgery less invasive. The disadvantage of using the endoscope and microscope together is that the surgeon must move the line of sight significantly between viewing the operative field through the eyepiece of the microscope and viewing the endoscope monitor.

We evaluated the usefulness of our three-dimensional (3D) model of the anterior and middle cranial fossa as a learning tool in improving knowledge of anatomy and surgical approaches, including skull base drilling and dura matter peeling techniques.
Methods: Using a 3D printer, a bone model of the anterior and middle cranial fossa was created based on multi-detector row computed tomography data, incorporating artificial cranial nerves, blood vessels, and dura mater.
Objectives: There have been no reports on the radiopaque properties of new polyetheretherketone (PEEK) crowns for locating crowns during accidental ingestion or aspiration and detection of secondary caries, which is essential information for clinical application. This study aimed to investigate whether the radiopaque properties of PEEK crowns could be used to identify the site of accidental ingestion or aspiration and detect secondary caries.
Methods: Four types of crowns were fabricated: three non-metal crowns (PEEK, hybrid resin, and zirconia) and one full metal cast crown (gold-silver-palladium alloy).

We report the first study of electrical resistivity, magnetization, and specific heat on YbCo. The measurements on a single-phased sample of YbCobring no evidence of magnetic ordering down to 0.3 K in a zero magnetic field.

However, few epidemiological studies have examined this causal relationship. This prospective cohort study aimed to investigate the relationship between baseline low back pain experience and the occurrence of future shoulder and elbow pain among high school baseball players.

This COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way of life around the world. To prevent the spread of infection, several COVID-19 vaccines were rapidly developed and their vaccination is recommended.

Neither the two biopsies and tissue culture from the arm lesion nor the biopsy and tissue culture from the nose lesion detected any organism. In December of 2013, she was diagnosed as cutaneous sarcoidosis at Oiso hospital and treated with oral prednisolone for six months, however, did not show improvement.

In this study, we attempted to use fish as a safe alternative to bovine collagen.
Objective: Fish collagen has not been used in clinical settings, so we examined its potential by comparing its properties with those of bovine-derived collagen.

Background And Purpose: To investigate the associations of perioperative P2Y12 reaction units (PRU) measured using VerifyNow with ischemic and bleeding events, and to determine the PRU threshold in the setting of elective neuro-endovascular treatment (EVT) for intracranial/extracranial vascular disease in patients taking aspirin and clopidogrel.
Methods: Of the patients undergoing elective neuro-EVT while taking aspirin and clopidogrel, those taking both antiplatelet agents for 7 days or more and whose PRU and aspirin reaction units (ARU) were measured were included. The primary and safety outcomes were defined as symptomatic ischemic and major bleeding events within 30 days after EVT.
Background: Postoperative cerebral embolic stroke is a serious complication of pulmonary lobectomy, occurring in 1.1% of patients undergoing lobectomy through video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS). The mechanism of this complication is thought to be embolic stroke caused by thrombus formed due to stagnation in the pulmonary vein stump after VATS lobectomy.

However, commonality of superconducting characteristics of HEA materials is unclear. Here, we have investigated the crystal and electronic structure, and the robustness of superconducting states in a HEA-type metal telluride (MTe; M = Ag, In, Sn, Pb, Bi) under high pressure, and the results were compared with the pressure effects for a middle-entropy system (AgPbBiTe) and a reference system of PbTe.

Using experimental lattice parameters the DFT correctly predicts the pressure of the magnetic transition in both compounds to be 26 GPa (La) and 22-23 GPa (Y). The transition was experimentally resolved in the changes of the electronic structure via the integrated absolute difference of the Coemission spectra.

We investigated the clinical characteristics and long-term course of abducens nerve palsy in ruptured VADA patients treated by endovascular surgery.
Methods: Of the 51 cases of ruptured VADA treated by endovascular intervention from 2011 to 2019, 31 with a good/fair outcome, in which ocular motility disorder was able to be followed, were included and investigated.
Introduction: Human norovirus (HuNoV) is a leading cause of infectious gastroenteritis. Since HuNoV shows resistance to alcohol, chlorine-based sanitizers are applied to decontaminate the virus on environmental surfaces. Chlorous acid water (CA) has been recently approved as a novel chlorine-based disinfectant categorized as a Type 2 OTC medicine in Japan.
