Lecanemab, an antibody drug targeting amyloid-β, has been approved to treat Alzheimer's disease (AD) in the United States and Japan recently. However, there are several concerns about Lecanemab, such as its minimum biological effects, possible side effects, and its economic burden. On the other hand, non-pharmacological approach without major side effects has a potential to alleviate the symptoms of AD by improving cognitive reserve, which is individual's resilience to AD pathology.

Besides the mild conditions and good reaction yields, the methodology is applicable for a wide range of derivatives using commercially available aryl iodides with complete C regioselectivity. The reaction is proposed to follow a Heck-type oxyarylation mechanism.

Numerous studies examining the responses of individual neurons in the inferior temporal (IT) cortex have revealed their characteristics such as two-dimensional or three-dimensional shape tuning, objects, or category selectivity. While these basic selectivities have been studied assuming that their response to stimuli is relatively stable, physiological experiments have revealed that the responsiveness of IT neurons also depends on visual experience. The activity changes of IT neurons occur over various time ranges; among these, repetition suppression (RS), in particular, is robustly observed in IT neurons without any behavioral or task constraints.

Postoperative enhanced computed tomography (CT) imaging revealed a type 1a endoleak from the fenestration. Nevertheless, the stented portion of the FET exhibited circular expansion.

However, the molecular mechanism by which inflammation and mechanical stress cause bone resorption remains unclear. We examined the role of Piezo1, a mechanosensitive ion channel expressed on osteoblasts, in the changes in the receptor activator of nuclear factor-kappa B ligand (RANKL)/osteoprotegerin (OPG) ratio in mouse MC3T3-E1 osteoblast-like cells under Porphyromonas gingivalis lipopolysaccharide (P.

However, its physiological/pathophysiological significance in bronchial function is not fully understood. Currently, the functional role of extracellular acidification on bronchial contraction was explored.

To improve PDAC therapy, we establish screening systems based on organoid and co-culture technologies and find a payload of antibody-drug conjugate (ADC), a bromodomain and extra-terminal (BET) protein degrader named EBET. We select CEACAM6/CD66c as an ADC target and developed an antibody, #84.

The neural responses to the complex contour features intrinsic to natural contours are expected to clarify the essence of the representation. To approach the cortical coding of natural contours, we investigated the simultaneous coding of multiple contour features in monkey () V4 neurons and their population-level representation.

Methods: Subjects were sixth-year medical students who completed a 4-week clinical clerkship in our department involving two separate tasks. Time taken to perform the tasks was recorded on Days 1, 14, and 28.
We report a case involving anesthetic management of Stanford type B acute aortic dissection occurred during transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) under monitored anesthesia care (MAC) in a patient with aortic stenosis (AS). An 87-year-old woman was undergoing TAVI under MAC for severe AS. During the surgery, the patient suddenly moved possibly because of pain.

To investigate the neural representation of objects in this process, we studied individual and population neuronal activity in three different visual regions of the brains of macaque monkeys (): the primary and secondary visual cortices (V1, V2) and the inferotemporal cortex (IT). We designed a task where the animal freely selected objects in a stimulus image to fixate on while we examined the relationship between spiking activity, the order of fixations, and the fixated objects.

Objectives: To compare cephalic and saphenous venous blood collected by continuously heating the paws to 37°C ("arterialization"), with arterial blood (AB) for measurement of blood gas variables in well-perfused dogs.
Animals: Eight healthy dogs.
Sulfonation and applications of amorphous calcium phosphate are known to make polyetheretherketone (PEEK) bioactive. Sulfonation followed by precipitation of amorphous calcium phosphate (AN-treatment) may provide PEEK with further bone-bonding strength. Herein, we prepared a carbon-fiber-reinforced PEEK (CPEEK) with similar tensile strength to cortical bone and a CPEEK subjected to AN-treatment (CPEEK-AN).

Subpopulations of tumor cells expressing the receptor tyrosine kinase AXL become enriched after treatment with antimitotic drugs, causing tumor relapse. Elevated AXL expression is closely associated with drug resistance in clinical samples, suggesting that AXL plays a pivotal role in drug resistance.

Although tissue engineering, autologous alternative tissue transplantation, and surgical techniques applying various flaps have been carried out for ureteral regeneration, all with some success, each method has its advantages and disadvantages. As an alternative, we created the first artificial ureter structures using only live cells and grafted them into healthy rat ureters.

We constructed tumor spheroids with a perfusable vascular network to assess drug delivery systems that target the tumor vasculature. A tricultured tumor spheroid containing human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) was placed in the central compartment of a microfluidic device, and the HUVECs were seeded into the microslit channels on both sides. Angiogenic sprouts began to form within a few days, from both the tumor spheroids and microchannels, and became more abundant and branched, while attracting each other, over time.

Objectives: Thoracic endovascular aortic repair is a widely accepted treatment for chronic aortic dissection because of good early results compared to open surgical repair. We provide early and long-term results of descending thoracic aortic repair for chronic aortic dissection.
Methods: Patients who underwent descending thoracic aortic repair for chronic aortic dissection between January 2012 and December 2020 at Kawasaki Aortic Centre were included in this analysis.
Purpose: Extracellular acidification is a major component of tissue inflammation, including airway inflammation. The extracellular proton-sensing mechanisms are inherent in various cells including airway structural cells, although their physiological and pathophysiological roles in bronchial smooth muscles (BSMs) are not fully understood. In the present study, to explore the functional role of extracellular acidification on the BSM contraction, the isolated mouse BSMs were exposed to acidic pH under contractile stimulation.

To clarify whether the responses depend on the extents of the figure and ground regions in and around the classical receptive fields (CRFs) of the neurons, we estimated the spatial extent of local figure and ground regions that evoked FG-dependent responses (RF-FGs) in natural images and their variants. Specifically, we applied the framework of spike triggered averaging (STA) to the combinations of neural responses and human-marked segmentation images (FG labels) that represent the extents of the figure and ground regions in the corresponding natural image stimuli.
