Research Question: What is the etiology-based prognosis of patients undergoing ECPR for OHCA?

Study Design And Methods: This retrospective multicenter registry study involved 36 institutions in Japan and included all adult patients with OHCA who underwent ECPR between January 2013 and December 2018.

An important part of realizing a carbon-neutral society using ammonia will be the development of an inexpensive yet efficient catalyst for ammonia synthesis under mild reaction conditions (<400 °C, <10 MPa). Here, we report Fe/K(3)/MgO, fabricated via an impregnation method, as a highly active catalyst for ammonia synthesis under mild reaction conditions (350 °C, 1.0 MPa).

Background: In recent years, the involvement of the compensation ability of the subtalar joint in lower extremity alignment has been reported. We previously showed that hindfoot alignment angle (HAA) is an indicator of compensation ability of the subtalar joint. Many agronomic traits that are important in rice breeding are controlled by multiple genes. The extensive time and effort devoted so far to identifying and selecting such genes are still not enough to target multiple agronomic traits in practical breeding in Japan because of a lack of suitable plant materials in which to efficiently detect and validate beneficial alleles from diverse genetic resources. To facilitate the comprehensive analysis of genetic variation in agronomic traits among Asian cultivated rice, we developed 12 sets of chromosome segment substitution lines (CSSLs) with the background, 11 of them in the same genetic background, using donors representing the genetic diversity of Asian cultivated rice.

Ankle and subtalar joint axes of rotation and center of rotation during walking and running in healthy individuals measured using dynamic biplane radiography.

The goal of this study was to determine how foot type and activity level affect ankle and hindfoot motion. Dynamic biplane radiography and a validated volumetric registration process was used to measure ankle and hindfoot motion of 20 healthy adults during walking and running. The helical axes of motion (HAM) during stance were calculated at the tibiotalar and subtalar joints.

Objectives　In response to the steady rise in the number of cases of mpox in nonendemic countries, starting with an outbreak in the United Kingdom in May 2022, the World Health Organization declared a public health emergency of international concern on July 23, 2022. As of November 13, 2022, seven cases of mpox have been reported in Japan.Methods　A community engagement approach was applied to prevent the spread of mpox in Japan.

Motivation facilitates motor performance; however, the neural substrates of the psychological effects on motor performance remain unclear. We conducted a functional magnetic resonance imaging experiment while human subjects performed a ready-set-go task with monetary incentives. Although subjects were only motivated to respond quickly, increasing the incentives improved not only reaction time but also peak grip force.

Diagnostic Accuracy of Pre-Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement Nitroglycerin-Free Fractional Flow Reserve-Computed Tomography-Based Physiological Assessment in Patients With Severe Aortic Stenosis for Predicting Post-Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement Ischemia.

Background: Fractional flow reserve-computed tomography (FFR) has not been validated in patients with severe aortic stenosis (AS) undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) for coronary artery disease due to theoretical difficulties in using nitroglycerin for such patients.

Methods and results: In this single-center study, we prospectively enrolled 21 patients (34 vessels) and performed pre-TAVR FFRwithout nitroglycerin, pre-TAVR invasive instantaneous wave-free ratio (iFR) measurements, and post-TAVR FFR measurements using a pressure wire. The diagnostic accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of pre-TAVR FFR≤0.

A case of total hip arthroplasty for nonunion after femoral trochanteric fracture surgery with complete breakage of only the compression screw of the InterTAN nail.

Intramedullary nails are an effective treatment for common femoral trochanteric fractures. However, one of their complications is implant breakage due to poor reduction and nonunion after surgery. We herein report a case of a 54-year-old man who underwent total hip arthroplasty for nonunion after internal fixation of a femoral trochanteric fracture.
