Background: Corrected age entails determining the age of premature infants by adjusting their gestational age to 40 weeks. Research on corrected age in relation to neurodevelopment is limited, both domestically and internationally, resulting in a lack of consensus and recommendations regarding the appropriate termination of the neurodevelopmental corrected age. This study aimed to assess the neurodevelopmental catch-up status of premature infants with varying gestational ages and to identify appropriate termination criteria for the corrected age of neurodevelopment.

The efficacy of stem cell transplantation (SCT) in pediatric acute myeloid leukemia (pAML) remains unsatisfactory due to the limitations of existing prognostic models in predicting efficacy and selecting suitable candidates. This study aims to develop a cytomolecular risk stratification-independent prognostic model for SCT in pAML patients at CR1 stage. The pAML SCT model, based on age, KMT2A rearrangement (KMT2A-r), and minimal residual disease at end of course 1 (MRD1), effectively classifies patients into low-, intermediate-, and high-risk groups.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to create a nomogram that predicts the risk of tumor lysis syndrome (TLS) in pediatric patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), using clinical indicators present at diagnosis.
  • - Researchers analyzed data from 2243 ALL patients and identified six key risk factors for TLS, including high white blood cell count and low serum phosphorus, potassium, and AST levels, among others.
  • - The developed nomogram showed strong predictive performance, with a high area under the curve (AUC) and confirmed its reliability through statistical tests, suggesting it could greatly aid in clinical decision-making regarding TLS risk.

Background: While there are established international consensuses on the delineation of pelvic lymph node regions (LNRs), significant inter- and intra-observer variabilities persist. Contouring these clinical target volumes for irradiation in pelvic malignancies is both time-consuming and labor-intensive.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a deep learning model of pelvic LNRs delineation for patients with pelvic cancers.

Article Synopsis
  • FH-deficient renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a rare and aggressive form of kidney cancer, with limited treatment options and understanding of its molecular characteristics.
  • A study involving 91 patients revealed that first-line combination therapy of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) and tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) led to significantly better response rates and survival outcomes compared to TKI alone, especially in metastatic cases.
  • The research identified a specific T-cell signature that correlates with the effectiveness of the ICI+TKI therapy, indicating a potential biomarker for personalized treatment, but further validation is needed.

Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) plays a crucial role in Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), providing essential assurance of accuracy in radiation treatment by monitoring changes in anatomical structures during the treatment process. However, CBCT images often face interference from scatter noise and artifacts, posing a significant challenge when relying solely on CBCT for precise dose calculation and accurate tissue localization. There is an urgent need to enhance the quality of CBCT images, enabling a more practical application in IGRT.

NHC-boranes have been treated as a reliable source of boryl radicals. In this study, regioselective hydroborylation of ketene dithioacetals with NHC-borane was achieved under mild conditions via a visible-light-promoted radical chain process using thiophenol as a proton donor and hydrogen atom transfer. This protocol features a low-cost catalyst, good functional group tolerance, a relatively broad range of substrate scope, and good to excellent yields.
