Hollow Mn/Co-MOF as a Powerful Oxidase-Like Nanozyme for Detection of Total Antioxidant Capacity and Black Tea Fermentation Degree.

The detection of total antioxidant capacity (TAC) in teas and its vital indicator for monitoring the fermentation degree during black tea processing are of great significance for intelligent manufacturing of the tea industry. Here, highly dispersed manganese species on Co-MOF with hollow structures (HS-Mn/Co-MOF) nanozyme with superior oxidase-like activity is constructed for colorimetric detection of ascorbic acid (AA) and TAC. Owing to the Mn doping and unique hollow structures, the HS-Mn/Co-MOF nanozyme possesses more surface active oxygen species, negative surface charges and rapid mass transport, thus resulting in 20-times higher catalytic activity and 30-times higher reaction rate than that of pure Co-MOF.

We identified a secreted factor, Meteorin-like (Metrnl), with decreased levels in livers with hepatic steatosis. Notably, recombinant Metrnl ameliorated hepatic steatosis in NAFLD mouse models.

The impact of a high-carbohydrate diet on the cognitive behavior of mice in a low-pressure, low-oxygen environment.

The effectiveness of high-carbohydrate diets (HCD) on cognitive impairment is still being debated. To clarify the impact of HCD on the cognitive behavior of mice under low-pressure hypoxic conditions, we studied 24 mice in different environments while subjecting them to dietary intervention for 5 weeks, and conducting behavioral tests. Under low-pressure hypoxic conditions, HCD intervention reversed the decline in spatial learning and memory abilities in mice caused by hypoxia, ameliorated pathological brain damage, and restored the integrity of the intestinal mucosa.

Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is an oxidative stress biomarker, with elevated MPO levels linked to chronic kidney disease (CKD) progression. Metal exposure is a risk factor for CKD, and is also correlated to MPO expression, with specific MPO genotypes linked to MPO expression. Therefore, we examined whether MPO plasma levels or MPO polymorphisms were linked to CKD, and explored whether these factors modified associations between CKD and metal concentrations.

A total of 4916 patients were initially enrolled from the First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University between January 2016 and December 2022.

Arsenic and lead exposures have been associated with neurotoxicity, which may be linked to epigenetic changes. Our research sought to investigate the correlation between 5mdC and developmental delay (DD) among preschoolers.

Effectiveness and safety of talimogene laherparepvec and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor for metastatic melanoma: a systematic review and network meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

Melanoma is an aggressive tumor that is challenging to treat. Talimogene laherparepvec (T-VEC), the first oncolytic virus treatment approved by the US Food and Drug Administration to treat unresectable melanoma, was recently used in recurrent tumors after initial surgery. Our network meta-analysis aimed to compare T-VEC treatment of metastatic melanoma with treatment of granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) and control group.

In this study, the straw returning soil of a continuous 15 years （SS） and non-straw returning soil （NS） were collected from Dahe Experimental Station of Hebei Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences in China.

[Transition of Food Consumption Patterns and Carbon Footprint of Urban and Rural Residents in China].

The food system is an important source of greenhouse gas emissions, and the carbon footprint analysis of food consumption under the dual carbon background is of great significance for the sustainable development of the food system. To reveal the differences in food consumption patterns and carbon footprints between urban and rural residents in China, the life cycle carbon emission coefficient method was used to measure the direct carbon emissions of food consumption by urban and rural residents in China from 2000 to 2021. From the perspective of carbon footprint composition, the following main conclusions were drawn： ① The structure of food consumption among residents in China shifted from predominantly plant-based to a balanced consumption of both plant- and animal-based foods, reducing the disparity in various food consumption quantities between urban and rural residents.

Background: Spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs) encompass a wide spectrum of inherited neurodegenerative diseases, primarily characterized by pathological changes in the cerebellum, spinal cord, and brainstem degeneration. Autosomal dominant spinocerebellar ataxia type 48 (SCA48) is a newly identified subtype of SCA, marked by early-onset ataxia and cognitive impairment, and is associated with mutations in the STIP1 homology and U-box-containing protein 1 (STUB1) gene. The STUB1 gene encodes the protein CHIP (C-terminus of HSC70-interacting protein) which functions as E3 ubiquitin ligase and is crucial to the development of neural systems.

In this review, we aim to delve into the complex interplay between sleep disturbances and female infertility, as well as to assess the underlying mechanisms involved, and seek to illuminate the causes of sleep-related fertility issues.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) brings new hope for the treatment of breast cancer due to few side effects and highly effective cell killing; however, the low bioavailability of traditional photosensitizers (PSs) and their dependence on oxygen severely limits their application. Aggregation-induced emission (AIE) PSs can dramatically facilitate the photosensitization effect, which can have positive impacts on tumor PDT. To-date, most AIE PSs lack tumor targeting capability and possess poor cell delivery, resulting in their use in large quantities that are harmful to healthy tissues.

Purpose: Vitamin D supplementation positively impacts anemia, but the relationship between a ferritin-related dietary pattern, iron parameters, and vitamin D in anemia is unclear.

Methods: This cross-sectional study analyzed data from the 2017-2019 National Nutrition and Health Survey, including 1423 pregnant women over 15 years old. Dietary intake was assessed using a semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire and a 24-hour dietary recall.

Deciphering the role of miRNA-134 in the pathophysiology of depression: A comprehensive review.

This study summarizes the significance of microRNA-134 (miRNA-134) in the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of depression, a disease still under investigation due to its complexity. miRNA-134 is an endogenous short non-coding RNA that can bind to the 3' untranslated region (3'UTR) of miRNA-134, inhibiting gene translation and showing great potential in the regulation of mood, synaptic plasticity, and neuronal function. This study included 15 articles retrieved from four English-language databases: PubMed, Embase, The Cochrane Library, and Web of Science, and three Chinese literature databases: CNKI, Wanfang, and Chinese Science and Technology Periodical Database (VIP).
