Background: Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is an autoantibody-triggered central nervous system (CNS) demyelinating disease that primarily affects the spinal cord, optic nerves and brainstem. Among the first responders to CNS injury, microglia are prominent players that drive NMOSD lesion formation. However, the key molecular switches controlling the detrimental activity of microglia in NMOSD are poorly understood.

While the mild production of syngas (a mixture of H and CO) from CO and HO is a promising alternative to the coal-based chemical engineering technologies, the inert nature of CO molecules, unfavorable splitting pathways of HO and unsatisfactory catalysts lead to the challenge in the difficult integration of high CO conversion efficiency with produced syngas with controllable H/CO ratios in a wide range. Herein, we report an efficient plasma-driven catalytic system for mild production of pure syngas over porous metal-organic framework (MOF) catalysts with rich confined HO molecules, where their syngas production capacity is regulated by the in situ evolved ligand defects and the plasma-activated intermediate species of CO molecules. Specially, the Cu-based catalyst system achieves 61.

Antiangiogenic therapy targeting VEGF-A has become the standard of first-line therapy for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, its clinical response rate is still less than 50%, and most patients eventually develop resistance, even when using combination therapy with chemotherapy. The major cause of resistance is the activation of complex bypass signals that induce angiogenesis and tumor progression.

  • Neurokinin-1 receptor antagonists like aprepitant and fosaprepitant are important for managing chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) in kids, but this study is the first to directly compare the two in pediatric patients.
  • The research involved 108 children aged 2-12 receiving chemotherapy, with half getting the intravenous form (fosaprepitant) and half getting the oral version (aprepitant), focusing on the effectiveness of each in preventing CINV shortly after treatment.
  • Results showed that fosaprepitant led to a higher complete response rate in the acute phase (95%) compared to aprepitant (79%), although both forms were similar in effectiveness for delayed nausea and required similar rescue medications.*

Current anti-angiogenic therapies have changed the paradigm of treating colorectal cancer (CRC) patients with advanced diseases. However, the clinical response rate is still low at less than 10% due largely to complex angiogenic factors released by tumor cells. Exploring novel mechanisms of tumor angiogenesis and identifying alternative targets for combination therapies are therefore essential to effective inhibition of tumor vascularization and CRC development.

To rationally design photocatalysts with high generation rate and selectivity of target product remains an ongoing challenge for CO conversion in pure H O. Herein, from the viewpoint of enhancing the separation efficiency of photoinduced electron-hole pairs and the adsorption ability of CO molecule, we have constructed a series of Z-scheme defective heterojunctions of BiOBr nanosheets and hollow NH -functionalized metal-organic framework (MOF) MIL-125 with Ti ions as metal centers (noted as NH -MIL-125(Ti)). Systematic characterization demonstrates that the BiOBr nanosheets are anchored on the surface of hollow NH -MIL-125(Ti), which facilitates the efficient visible-light-driven catalytic reduction of CO to CO with nearly 100% selectivity by pure H O.
