Cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) syndrome is a systemic clinical condition characterized by pathological and physiological interactions among metabolic abnormalities, chronic kidney disease, and cardiovascular diseases, leading to multi-organ dysfunction and a higher incidence of cardiovascular endpoints. Traditional approaches to managing CKM syndrome risk are inadequate in these patients, necessitating strategies targeting specific CKM syndrome risk factors. Increasing evidence suggests that addressing uremic toxins and/or pathways induced by uremic toxins may reduce CKM syndrome risk and treat the disease.

Nitrate pollution in water bodies is a worldwide environmental problem, and identifying the sources of nitrate is of great significance to guarantee the sustainable use of water resources. A variety of water chemistry indicators and nitrate nitrogen and oxygen isotopes (N-NO and O-NO) were used to analyze the water chemistry characteristics of water bodies in Shiyan to identify the sources of nitrate in the water bodies and to calculate the contribution rate of nitrate from different pollution sources of the water bodies using the SIMMR model. The results showed that the hydrochemical types of surface water and groundwater in the study area were dominated by the HCO-Ca·Mg type, and the formation of nitrate in the water body was mainly affected by nitrification, with non-obvious denitrification.

Unlabelled: Current microbiome signatures for chronic diseases such as diabetic kidney disease (DKD) are mainly based on low-resolution taxa such as genus or phyla and are often inconsistent among studies. In microbial ecosystems, bacterial functions are strain specific, and taxonomically different bacteria tend to form co-abundance functional groups called guilds. Rainfall serves as a significant factor contributing to slope stability challenges in mountainous areas, and simulating the process of slope rainwater movement is a crucial approach for analyzing the stability of slopes triggered by rainfall. By combining computer numerical simulation technology with traditional hydraulic and hydrological calculation theories, it is possible to create an efficient and precise rainwater movement model that can simulate and analyze the process of rainwater movement on slopes. Utilizing natural slopes as the focal point of our research, the cellular automaton method was applied to simulate rainfall runoff on slopes, and a Cellular Automata (CA) based model for rainwater movement process was developed.

Small GTPase Rab8a is involved in fat-specific protein 27 (Fsp27) mediated lipid droplet accumulation in adipocytes. By screening inhibitors of Rab8a GTPase from a natural compound library, berbamine (BBM), a marketing drug for treatment of leukopenia in China, was identified to inhibit the activity of Rab8a GTPase and block the differentiation of 3T3-L1 adipocytes. In this paper, based on the fluorescence of carbon quantum dots (CQDs) quenched by mercury ions (Hg ) and the nonresponse of Hg to rhodamine B fluorescence, a dual emission ratio fluorescence sensor was constructed to realize the quantitative detection of Hg . Under excitation at 365 nm, the fluorescence spectrum showed double emission peaks at 437 nm and 590 nm, corresponding to the fluorescence emissions of CQDs and rhodamine B, respectively. This method quantitatively detected Hg based on the linear relationship between the ratio of the intensities of the two emission peaks F /F and the concentration of Hg .
