Role of macronutrients, dairy products, fruits and vegetables in occurrence and progression of endometriosis: A summary of current evidence in a systematic review.

Background: Current evidence on the role of macro- and micronutrients in the aetiopathogenesis of endometriosis is controversial.

Objectives: In this systematic review, we aimed to investigate the effect of macronutrients, dairy products, fruits, and vegetables on the occurrence and progression of endometriosis.

Materials And Methods: A systematic literature review of eligible articles retrieved from medical databases, including PubMed, Cochrane, and Academic Search, was performed from inception to May 2023.

Effect of Water Extract Consumption on Blood Parameters and Cytokine Values in Healthy Volunteers.

Objective: Our aim in this study is, does 29-day regular consumption of water extract by volunteer individuals who meet the study criteria have an effect on blood and cytokine values?

Method: In accordance with the purpose of the study, volunteers were asked to consume 100 ml of the extract every morning for 29 days. Three tubes of blood samples were taken from the volunteers on the 15th and 29th days of the study. Biochemical and hematological analysis of the blood samples were performed and immunomodulatory effects through cytokines were examined.

Methylation Profiling of Specific Genes in Ependymomas.

Objective: Ependymomas are neuroepithelial tumors of the central nervous system with heterogeneous biology and clinical course. The aim of the present study is to investigate the relationship between the methylation status and clinicopathological parameters in ependymomas.

Material And Method: DNA methylation status of CDKN2A, RASSF1A, KLF4 and ZIC2 genes were quantitatively analyzed with pyrosequencing in 44 ependymoma tumor tissues.

The effects of forward head posture on expiratory muscle strength in chronic neck pain patients: A cross-sectional study.

Objectives: This study aims to investigate the relationship between forward head posture (FHP) and respiratory dysfunctions in patients with chronic neck pain.

Patients And Methods: Between June 2014 and November 2016 , a total of 99 patients (11 males, 88 females; mean age 54.1±9 years; range, 38 to 75 years) with chronic neck pain were evaluated for head posture by cervical lateral radiograph measuring the anterior head translation distance (FHPmm) and C7 vertebrae position (C7°).

Combination of inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) with long acting beta2 agonists has been used increasingly in the treatment of moderate-severe asthma, however there is indefinitive data about their effect on bone loss. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of treatment with single ICS and combination of ICS with long acting beta2 agonists (combination therapy) on BMD and biomarkers of bone metabolism in adult patients with asthma over 1 year period. Forty-three patients with asthma were enrolled.

Results of this study have been compared with the theoretical values and other available experimental results in the literature.

The peak oxygen uptake of healthy Turkish children with reference to age and sex: a pilot study.

Maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) has an important place in the assessment of cardiopulmonary fitness. Currently there is insufficient normative data for Turkish children. With this preliminary study, we aimed to set up a normative data for our lab which may also serve as a basis for future large population based studies in Turkey.

Hormonal responses to exercise stress test in patients with fibromyalgia syndrome.

Twenty patients with fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) and 20 matched healthy controls were subjected to an exercise stress test above their anaerobic threshold. Serum samples for the measurement of growth hormone (GH), insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1), prolactin (PRL), adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) and cortisol were taken prior to and after the test at 30-min intervals. Compared to the controls, the patients with FMS displayed significantly lower basal GH levels and slightly, though significantly, higher prolactin levels.

Butterfly vertebra: a case report.

Butterfly vertebra is a rare congenital anomaly associated with syndromes such as Pfeiffer, Jarcho-Levin, Crousen, Alagille. In the literature, only a few cases of butterfly vertebra have been reported as incidental finding. We described a 37-year-old male who had an L3 butterfly vertebra associated with an L4-L5 disc protrusion.
