This case report describes a 37-year-old woman diagnosed with anti-glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 (anti-GAD65) antibody-positive encephalitis-related NORSE. Determination of nuclear and/or cytoplasmic expression of β-catenin by immunohistochemistry in patients with endometrial cancer (EC) may constitute a potential diagnostic method for identifying patients with a catenin β1 (CTNNB1) gene mutation and those at risk of disease recurrence. The present study aimed to investigate β-catenin expression patterns in hysterectomy specimens of patients with endometrioid type EC using immunohistochemistry, and to examine the prognostic impact of β-catenin. The study was a single-institutional, retrospective cohort trial enrolling consecutive patients with a postoperative histopathological diagnosis of endometrioid EC who underwent hysterectomy between January 2015 and December 2018.

Advancing patient care: novel scales for assessing adherence and attitudes toward medication among adolescents with psychiatric disorders and their parents.

Adolescents with psychiatric disorders may struggle with medication adherence and this can lead to ineffective treatment. Subjective factors, such as attitudes, beliefs, experiences, have a greater impact on adherence in adolescents than objective factors. To better understand these subjective attitudes, self-evaluation rating scales should be developed.

Does HPV-18 co-infection increase the risk of cervical pathology in individuals with HPV-16?

Objective: We aimed to investigate differences between HPV-16 mono- and HPV-16/18 co-infections in terms of cervical dysplasia and invasive cancer.

Methods: This multicentre, retrospective study spanned from December 2017 to December 2020, involving women who visited gynaecological oncology clinics for colposcopy with either HPV-16 or HPV-16/18 positivity. A total of 736 patients, 670 in Group 1 (HPV-16 positivity) and 66 in Group 2 (HPV-16/18 positivity), were compared for the presence of CIN2+ lesions detected by colposcopic biopsy or endocervical curettage (ECC).

Cutaneous ciliated cysts are rare benign lesions most commonly seen in the lower extremities of young female patients. There is still ongoing debate about the origin of these cysts, with the most common theories being Mullerian heterotopia and eccrine gland metaplasia. To further increase the data pool, we present 2 new cutaneous ciliated cyst cases and gathered data about all 67 cases of literature.

The effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on accrual-based earnings management: Evidence from four most affected European countries.

This study aims to investigate the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on accrual-based earnings management (EM) based upon a sampling of 938 listed firms from four selected European countries (United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, and Türkiye) during 2016-2020. We find that firms engage more in accrual-based EM through income-increasing and income-decreasing accruals in the year of the COVID-19 pandemic relative to the period before the pandemic. These findings imply that financial reporting reliability and usefulness decreased in the period of the pandemic.

Despite the theoretical benefits, the favorable effect of preoperative carbohydrate loading on postoperative morbidity remains controversial. Most of the outcomes reported in the literature are derived from non-gynecologic surgery data, with only one study involving a limited number of patients specifically in gynecological oncology. Defining the relationship between ovarian adult granulosa cell tumors and synchronous endometrial pathology: Does ovarian tumor size correlate with endometrial cancer?

Objective: The main feature of adult granulosa cell tumors (AGCT) is their capacity to secrete hormones, with nearly all of them capable of synthesizing oestradiol. The primary goal of this study is to identify synchronized endometrial pathologies, particularly endometrial cancer, in AGCT patients who had undergone a hysterectomy.
