Tongue cancer at a young age demonstrates an increase in incidence, aggressiveness, and poor response to therapy. Classic etiological factors for head and neck tumors such as tobacco, alcohol, and human papillomavirus are not related to early-onset tongue cancer. Mechanisms of development and progression of this cancer remain unclear.

Progesterone-modified natural cycle preparation for frozen embryo transfer.

Research Question: Is there any difference in clinical outcomes between the progesterone-modified natural cycle (P4mNC) and hormone replacement therapy (HRT) endometrial preparation protocols after single euploid blastocyst frozen embryo transfer (FET) cycles?

Design: A retrospective cohort study was performed at a single, private, high-volume fertility centre. Patients who underwent single euploid blastocyst FET between January 2017 and December 2019 were included. A total of 1933 FET cycles were reviewed, and 723 FET cycles from 548 patients met the inclusion criteria.

Genetic Features of Tongue Cancer Recurrence in Young Adults.

To identify genetic alterations associated with tongue cancer recurrence in young adults, whole exome sequencing of the primary tumor, recurrence, and whole blood samples from young patients with tongue cancer was performed. A frameshift mutation in the TP53 gene was detected in the primary tumor and recurrence tumor tissue. A mutation in the EPHB6 gene was detected in the recurrence and was absent in the primary tumor.

The type IB topoisomerase of budding yeast (yTop1) generates small deletions in tandem repeats through a sequential cleavage mechanism and larger deletions with random endpoints through the nonhomologous end-joining (NHEJ) pathway. Vaccinia virus Top1 (vTop1) is a minimized version of the eukaryal TopIB enzymes and uniquely has a strong consensus cleavage sequence: the pentanucleotide (T/C)CCTTp↓. To define the relationship between the position of TopIB cleavage and mutagenic outcomes, we expressed vTop1 in yeast top1Δ strains containing reporter constructs with a single CCCTT site, tandem CCCTT sites, or CCCTT sites separated by 42 bp.

Magnetic Relaxation Switching Assay Using IFNα-2b-Conjugated Superparamagnetic Nanoparticles for Anti-Interferon Antibody Detection.

Type I interferons, particularly IFNα-2b, play essential roles in eliciting adaptive and innate immune responses, being implicated in the pathogenesis of various diseases, including cancer, and autoimmune and infectious diseases. Therefore, the development of a highly sensitive platform for analysis of either IFNα-2b or anti-IFNα-2b antibodies is of high importance to improve the diagnosis of various pathologies associated with the IFNα-2b disbalance. For evaluation of the anti-IFNα-2b antibody level, we have synthesized superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) coupled with the recombinant human IFNα-2b protein (SPIONs@IFNα-2b).

Extending the Scope of the New Variant of the Castagnoli-Cushman Cyclocondensation onto -Methyl Benzoic Acids Bearing Various Electron-Withdrawing Groups in the α-Position.

Based on the previously reported involvement of homophthalic acid monoesters in the Castagnoli-Cushman reaction-type cyclocondensation with imines, we tested a number of other -methyl benzoic acids bearing various electron-withdrawing groups in the α-position. The majority of these substrates delivered the expected tetrahydroisoquinolone adducts on activation with CDI or acetic anhydride. Homophthalic acid mononitriles displayed the highest promise as substrates for the new reaction, both in terms of scope and product yields.

Hepatitis B virus envelope proteins can serve as therapeutic targets embedded in the host cell plasma membrane.

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a major health threat causing 880,000 deaths each year. Available therapies control viral replication but do not cure HBV, leaving patients at risk to develop hepatocellular carcinoma. Here, we show that HBV envelope proteins (HBs)-besides their integration into endosomal membranes-become embedded in the plasma membrane where they can be targeted by redirected T-cells.

[Relations of alcohol consumption and sleep among community-dwelling elderly living in cold region of Russia: a cross-sectional study].

Aim: Alcohol consumption is high in the colder regions of Russia, and it is related to poor sleep quality, mental and physical health problems. Little known on the actual situation, and no appropriate amount of drinking has been shown as a health guidance. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between alcohol consumption (in pure alcohol) and sleep among older people living in the Russian Siberian region, and the factors related to alcohol consumption.

PECULIARITIES OF 24-HOUR BLOOD PRESSURE MONITORING IN HYPERTENSIVE PATIENTS DEPENDING ON THE FUNCTIONAL STATE OF THE THYROID GLAND.

The aim of the work was to study the influence of the functional state of the thyroid gland on the peculiarities of the clinical course of arterial hypertension (AH) and indicators of Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM). The study included 130 patients with AH, of whom: Group 1-50 patients with AH in combination with hypothyroidism (mean age - 56,34±10,23 years, mean duration of AH - 8,76±6,81 years, duration of hormone replacement therapy for hypothyroidism - 9,38±5,70 years); Group 2-50 patients with AH in combination with thyrotoxicosis (mean age 52,62±12,70 years, mean duration of AH -6,54±4,02 years, duration of thyrotoxicosis - 3,90±2,56 years). The control group consisted of 30 patients with AH, who were statistically comparable in age - 56,23±7,64 years, duration of AH -8,87±4,45 years, in whom thyroid dysfuctation was excluded during the examination.

Urethroplasty with a bilayered poly-D,L-lactide-co-ε-caprolactone scaffold seeded with allogenic mesenchymal stem cells.

Reconstructive surgery for urethral defects employing tissue-engineered scaffolds represents an alternative treatment for urethroplasty. The aim of this study was to compare the therapeutic efficacy of the bilayer poly-D,L-lactide/poly-ε-caprolactone (PL-PC) scaffold seeded with allogenic mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) for urethra reconstruction in a rabbit model with conventional urethroplasty employing an autologous buccal mucosa graft (BG). The inner layer of the scaffold based on poly-D,L-lactic acid (PL) was seeded with MSCs, while the outer layer, prepared from poly-ε-caprolactone, protected the surrounding tissues from urine.

Granzyme B Functionalized Nanoparticles Targeting Membrane Hsp70-Positive Tumors for Multimodal Cancer Theranostics.

Functionalized superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) have emerged as potential clinical tools for cancer theranostics. Membrane-bound 70 kDa heat shock protein (mHsp70) is ubiquitously expressed on the cell membrane of various tumor types but not normal cells and therefore provides a tumor-specific target. The serine protease granzyme B (GrB) that is produced as an effector molecule by activated T and NK cells has been shown to specifically target mHsp70 on tumor cells.
