Background: Elderly patients, due to their complex medical conditions and extensive care needs, are at risk of experiencing low-quality or fragmented care during transitions between different healthcare settings. After transitioning from hospital to home, inadequate self-care abilities may result in further health deterioration and increased risks of adverse outcomes. Currently, China lacks effective transitional support services from hospital to home, hindering the smooth transition for elderly patients.

Fluorescent RNAs (FRs), which are RNA aptamers that bind and activate their cognate small fluorogenic dyes, have provided a particularly useful approach for imaging RNAs in live cells. Although the color palette of FRs is greatly expanded, a bright and stable cyan FR with good biocompatibility and biorthogonality with currently available FRs remains desirable but is not yet developed. Herein, the development of Myosotis is described, an RNA aptamer that emits bright cyan fluorescence upon binding a novel GFP chromophore-like fluorophore called DBT.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigated stress levels among nurses, identifying three distinct categories: low, moderate, and high perceived stress, with most nurses (66.7%) falling into the moderate category.
  • - Data were collected from 696 nurses in Shanxi Province, China, through electronic surveys that measured factors like sociodemographics, job stressors, effort-reward imbalance, and organizational support.
  • - Key findings highlighted that working hours and effort-reward imbalance significantly influenced stress levels, showing that longer hours and higher extrinsic effort correlated with increased perceived stress among nurses.

Plant intracellular nucleotide-binding and leucine-rich repeat immune receptors (NLRs) play a key role in activating a strong pathogen defense response. Plant NLR proteins are tightly regulated and accumulate at very low levels in the absence of pathogen effectors. However, little is known about how this low level of NLR proteins is able to induce robust immune responses upon recognition of pathogen effectors.

Article Synopsis
  • - Researchers developed a new fluorogenic RNA aptamer called Okra that significantly enhances the visibility of RNA in live cells by binding to a ligand and producing bright green fluorescence.
  • - Okra offers improved cellular brightness compared to existing green fluorescent RNAs, making it effective for imaging messenger RNA in both bacterial and mammalian cells.
  • - The study demonstrates Okra's potential for advanced imaging techniques, such as tracking ACTB mRNA in stress granules and dual-color superresolution imaging, highlighting its capability for studying RNA dynamics and localization.

Epoxyeicosatrienoic acids with anti-inflammatory effects are inactivated by soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH). Both sEH and histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6) inhibitors are being developed as neuropathic pain relieving agents. Based on the structural similarity, we designed a new group of compounds with inhibition of both HDAC6 and sEH and obtained compound .

Herbaceous peony is a perennial root plant that likes light and is cold-resistant. During summer, high temperature and strong light intensity advance its entry into the leaf wilting stage, which limits the accumulation of nutrients and formation of strong buds and severely affects its growth and development the following year. In this study, the wild herbaceous peony species and two main cultivars, 'Zifengyu' and 'Hongfengyu', were subjected to slight shading and strong light environments in summer, and their effects on leaf senescence and endogenous hormone and polyamine contents were explored.

In recent years, it has been proposed that G9a/EZH2 dual inhibition is a promising cancer treatment strategy. Herein, we present the discovery of G9a/EZH2 dual inhibitors that merge the pharmacophores of G9a and EZH2 inhibitors. Among them, the most promising compound displayed potent inhibitory activities against G9a (IC = 2.

Soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) has been identified as an attractive target for anti-inflammatory drug design in recent years. Picomolar level compound against sEH was obtained by introducing the hydrophilic group homopiperazine and hydrophobic fragment propionyl onto the structure of lead compound . showed good microsomal stability, a moderate plasma protein binding rate, and good oral bioavailability and was well tolerated in rats.

Objective: The study aimed to evaluate pre-allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) treatment, compare the endpoints related to disease management between pre-HSCT cytoreduction patients and upfront transplantation patients with higher-risk myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS).

Methods: A total of 90 higher-risk MDS patients administered allo-HSCT in the Hematology Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University were retrospectively analyzed, which included 28 patients with upfront transplantation and 62 patients with pre-transplant cytoreduction, including 30 patients received hypomethylating agents (HMA) and 32 patients received hypomethylating agents and induction chemotherapy (HMA+IC). Difference between the two groups regarding hematopoietic reconstruction, graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), relapse rate, non-relapse death (NRM), overall survival (OS) and relapse-free survival (RFS) was compared.

Sacrificial fragile cementitious foams (SFCFs) act as a core material of the engineered material arresting system (EMAS) installed in airports to enhance the safe take-offs and landings of aircrafts. The foam structures and foaming mechanisms that greatly impact the collapse strength, specific energy, and arresting efficiency of SFCFs, however, have not been fully addressed. Herein, the engineering properties, chemical characteristics, and pore-skeleton structures of three batches of industrial SFCFs were experimentally investigated.

Soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) is related to arachidonic acid cascade and is over-expressed in a variety of diseases, making sEH an attractive target for the treatment of pain as well as inflammatory-related diseases. A new series of memantyl urea derivatives as potent sEH inhibitors was obtained using our previous reported compound as lead compound. A preferential modification of piperidinyl to 3-carbamoyl piperidinyl was identified for this series structure-based rational drug design.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to explore how family care and coping strategies relate to the subjective well-being (SWB) of patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) after undergoing a medical procedure called percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
  • Data was collected from 264 CHD patients through questionnaires that measured demographic information, coping methods, and their overall well-being, with analyses performed using statistical software.
  • Findings showed that family care positively affects SWB, particularly more so in men, and that coping strategies mediate this relationship, suggesting that enhancing family support and coping techniques can lead to better well-being for patients post-PCI.

Antiviral RNA silencing/interference (RNAi) of negative-strand (-) RNA plant viruses (NSVs) has been studied less than for single-stranded, positive-sense (+)RNA plant viruses. From the latter, genomic and subgenomic mRNA molecules are targeted by RNAi. However, genomic RNA strands from plant NSVs are generally wrapped tightly within viral nucleocapsid (N) protein to form ribonucleoproteins (RNPs), the core unit for viral replication, transcription and movement.

Asthma has long been considered a disease of airway inflammation. The excessive or prolonged production of inflammatory mediators can result in airway remodeling and severe clinical syndromes such as dyspnea or even apnea. Therefore, pharmaceutical intervention is required to restrain the excessive release of such inflammatory mediators in control of asthma.

Complex exhibits one 3D framework with an unexpected 3-nodal 2,4,6-c net topology containing the 1D {β-MoO} chains, 6-connected Co centers, and V-type coordinated btp ligands. The neighboring [MoO] anions of complex are bridged by the Ni centers to build one 2D {Ni(MoO)} network, which is arranged into the 3D framework through the weak π···π stacking interactions.
