Purpose: Identifying therapeutic targets for Signet Ring Cell Carcinoma (SRCC) of the colon and rectum is a clinical challenge due to the lack of Patient-Derived Organoids (PDO) or Xenografts (PDX). We present a robust method to establish PDO and PDX models to answer address this unmet need. We demonstrate that these models identify novel therapeutic strategies targeting therapy resistance and peritoneal metastasis.

Anaplasma species have been detected from farm animals worldwide, there is a paucity of information on Anaplasma infections in goats from Malaysia. Thus, this study aimed to assess the infection rate and identify Anaplasma species and some selected risk factors in goats across selected districts in Kelantan, Malaysia.

Therapy resistance and relapse in CRC is associated with the formation of lipid droplets (LD) by stimulating de novo lipogenesis (DNL). However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the increase in DNL and the susceptibility to DNL-targeted therapies remain unclear.

5-florouracil is a widely used anticancer/anti-metabolite drug used to treat solid tumor like colon cancer, head and neck, rectum, stomach, pancreas and breast cancer; but, it can cause hepatotoxicity by induction of apoptosis through activation of caspases enzymes and oxidative stress. Nobiletin is a citrus fruit-derived flavonoid that possess significant biological activity, including anticancer, and anti-inflammatory. This study was design to investigate the effects of nobiletin against 5-florouracil-indcued hepatotoxicity in male rats through the measurement of selected -inflammatory, -apoptosis, and -oxidative stress markers.

Unlabelled: Dengue is humans' most prevalent and crucial arthropod-borne viral illness. The majority of dengue fever patients have no symptoms, but certain individuals may progress to dengue shock syndrome or dengue hemorrhagic fever. Spontaneous auricular hematoma is a rare complication of dengue fever.

The primary source of pathogenic dsRNA is cells infected with replicating viruses, but can also be released from uninfected necrotic cells. Here, we show that the dsRNA poly(I:C) challenge in human macrophages activates the p38 MAPK-MK2 signalling pathway and subsequently the phosphorylation of tristetraprolin (TTP/ZFP36).

Hyperuricemia is an objective risk factor of derangement of fasting serum glucose and type 2 diabetes (T2D), yet whether hyperuricemia has a causative influence on insulin resistance is still debatable. In this study, we tested the hypothesis that lowering uric acid in hyperuricemic nondiabetic subjects might improve insulin resistance. Patients with renal stone and hyperuricemia (n=15) were recruited from the private clinic of Ib-Sina Local Teaching Hospital in Mosul city and prospectively placed on allopurinol (300mg/day) for 6 months.

Finding novel therapeutic agents with significant cytotoxic action and minimal adverse impact on normal cells becomes crucial. Today, natural anticancer agents present an unconventional method of treating cancer, either as a curative or preventative agent, with considerable concern for marine organisms.

Emerging evidence suggests a significant increase in the levels of inflammatory and stress-related markers in patients with CRC, indicating that oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation may influence signalling cascades involved in the progression of the disease. However, the precise molecular and cellular basis underlying CRC and their modulations during bioactive compound exposure have not yet been deciphered.

Approximately a half of reported CAPNONs developed in the spinal region, mostly close to the facet joint (FJ). The diagnosis of spinal CAPNONs is challenging given the existence of mimics and associated pathologies including calcific degeneration of the FJ ligaments (DFJL) and synovial cysts (SCs).

Methods: A cross-sectional community-based study of the prevalence of serum antibodies against all four vaccine types used in Nigeria amongst a representative sample of people aged 18 years and above in the six geopolitical zones of the country using a multistage sampling technique covering 12 states of the country with two states being randomly selected from each geopolitical zone. High-throughput Roche electrochemiluminescence immunoassay system (Elecsys Anti-SARS-COV-1 Cobas) was used for qualitative and quantitative detection of antibodies to SARS-COV-1 in human plasma.
Nocardia brain abscesses are rare bacterial infections associated with a high mortality rate, and their preoperative diagnosis can be difficult for various reasons including a nonspecific clinical presentation. While late-stage nocardial brain abscesses may be radiologically characteristic, early-stage lesions are nonspecific and indistinguishable from another inflammatory/infectious process and other mimics. Despite the paucity of previous histopathological descriptions, histopathological examination is critical for the identification of the pathogen, lesion stage(s), and possible coexisting pathology.

BIRC5 is an inhibitor of apoptosis that is aberrantly expressed in cancer leading to sustained growth of tumours. Post-transcriptional control mechanisms involving RNA-binding proteins and AU-rich elements (AREs) are fundamental to many cellular processes and changes in the expression or function of these proteins can promote an aberrant and pathological phenotype.

Despite the improvements in chemotherapeutic cure strategies, drug resistance is still an obstacle leading to disease aggressiveness. The small non-coding RNA molecules, miRNAs, have been implicated recently to be involved as regulators of gene expression through the silencing of mRNA targets that contributed to several cellular processes related to cancer metastasis.
