Objective: The neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) has been evaluated as a new predictor of cardiovascular risk. Inflammation has been shown to be associated with various arrhythmias including supraventricular tachycardias (SVTs). In this study, we aimed to investigate the relation between NLR and SVT in patients with a documented atrial tachyarrhythmia.

Clinical Characteristics and Outcome of Cardiovascular Implantable Electronic Device Infections in Turkey.

Infection is one of the most devastating outcomes of cardiovascular implantable electronic device (CIED) implantation and is related to significant morbidity and mortality. In our country, there is no evaluation about CIED infection. Therefore, our aim was to investigate clinical characteristics and outcome of patients who had infection related to CIED implantation or replacement.

The relationship between coenzyme Q10 and severity of coronary artery disease.

Aim: To evaluate the relationship between the levels of plasma coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), a known antioxidant, and severity of the coronary atherosclerosis (AS) measured by Gensini score.

Factor V Leiden (FVL) has recently been described as a genetic factor with a propensity towards venous thromboembolism; however, it is thought to have a doubtful role in coronary artery disease (CAD). An atypically localized atrial myxoma: a case report.

Atypical cardiac myxomas are rare occurrences and may present with a variety of clinical manifestations depending on the location and morphology. A 46-year-old woman had a 4 x 3 x 2-cm myxoma originating from the superior wall of the left atrium, found by echocardiography and multislice tomography. The tumor was successfully treated by surgical excision.

G20210A Prothrombin gene variant in Turkish patients with angiographically documented coronary artery disease.

Background: G-->A substitution at position 20210A in the 3'-untranslated region in prothrombin gene is associated with raised plasma prothrombin. G20210A prothrombin variant has been associated with high prothrombin levels and an increased risk of venous thrombosis. To determine the prevalence of the G20210A prothrombin variant among Turkish and to evaluate the potential relevance of this variant to Turkish patients with angiographically documented coronary artery disease (CAD).
