Background: Residual neuromuscular block (NMB) after anesthesia poses significant risk to patients, which can be reduced by adhering to evidence-based practices for the dosing, monitoring, and reversal of NMB. Incorporation of best practices into routine clinical care remains uneven across providers and institutions, prompting the need for effective implementation strategies.
Methods: An interdisciplinary quality improvement initiative aimed to optimize NMB reversal practices across a large multi-campus urban medical center.
Background: Surgical pain management is a critical component in the success of bariatric procedures. With the opioid epidemic, there have been increased efforts to decrease opioid use. In 2019, the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program developed the BSTOP protocol, a multimodal perioperative pain management regimen to minimize opioid use.

Acute occlusive thrombus or embolus of the hand represents a complex problem that often may require immediate surgical intervention. We report a case of acute unilateral arterial hand ischemia requiring catheter-directed thrombolysis with Alteplase therapy in a patient with acute occlusive arterial thrombosis of the left ulnar artery.

Summary: Seven total doses of idarucizumab were administered to six unique patients from October 31, 2015, to October 31, 2016. The reversal agent was used in conjunction with local bleeding control measures, blood product transfusions, and acid-suppressive therapy.
Objective: To describe Montefiore Medical Center's participation in a point-of-distribution (POD) exercise in which pharmacists were drilled on the ability to provide immunizations in the face of an emergency.
Setting: New York City on October 9, 2007.
Summary: Rapid and appropriate response to a terrorism event can limit morbidity and mortality.
Although fibroblast growth factor has been identified in normal and ischemic myocardium, temporal changes in mitogenic activity due to fibroblast growth factors in ischemic tissue have not been well established, nor has correlation been made with the known early increases in coronary collateral flow. This study sought to measure fibroblast growth factor activity in myocardium after coronary ligation. Accordingly the left anterior descending coronary artery of dogs was ligated and coronary collateral flow measured with radioactive microspheres.
