Objectives: The American Diabetes Association recommends measuring hemoglobin A1C levels (A1C) at least semiannually in diabetic patients who have stable glycemic control and quarterly in patients whose therapy has changed or who are not meeting glycemic goals. These guidelines were based on expert consensus without reference to actual clinical data. The main objective of this study was to assess association between meeting a target A1C level of <7% and adherence to monitoring guidelines.

Objective: The authors investigated the prevalence of depressive symptoms in PAH and their correlation with physical functioning.
Object: This single-institution Phase II study tests the efficacy of adjuvant radioimmunotherapy with (125)I-labeled anti-epidermal growth factor receptor 425 murine monoclonal antibody ((125)I-mAb 425) in patients with newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme (GBM).
Methods: A total of 192 patients with GBM were treated with (125)I-mAb 425 over a course of 3 weekly intravenous injections of 1.8 GBq following surgery and radiation therapy.

Malignant histiocytosis sarcoma virus (MHSV) arose as a recombinant of c-Harvey-ras murine sarcoma virus (Ha-MuSV) and Friend mink cell focus-forming virus (F-MCFV). It is a defective acute transforming retrovirus that, along with Friend murine leukemia helper virus (F-MuLV), induces malignant histiocytosis (MH) in susceptible adult mice. We have assessed the in vivo susceptibility to MHSV in inbred homozygous, F1 hybrid, congenic, and recombinant inbred (RI) mice.

The proinflammatory events induced by a common pre-BMT conditioning regimen, cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan(R)) (Cy) and total body irradiation, were analyzed in a murine BMT model. Electron microscopy indicated that Cy exacerbated irradiation-induced epithelial cell injury as early as day 3 after BMT.

The treatment was well tolerated without treatment-related mortality and with a low incidence (5.2%) of severe complications.

Thirty patients, over a 16-year period, treated with whole abdominal irradiation for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma were reviewed. Therapy tolerance, acute toxicity, and long-term outcome were determined. When adequate protection of vital intraabdominal organs was instituted properly, patient tolerance required only conservative medical management.
