In the present work, Zinc-oxide nanostructures and Ce/Zinc-oxide nanopetals were synthesized by a new environmentally friendly green synthesis method using the Withania coagulans plant. Cerium nitrate Ce(NO) and zinc nitrate Zn(NO) were used as precursors. The prepared nanostructures were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and ultraviolet spectroscopy (UV-vis).

Article Synopsis
  • The COVID-19 pandemic led to strict lockdowns worldwide, affecting social activities and drastically reducing air pollution.
  • During a study in four Pakistani cities, air quality was assessed by measuring particulate matter (PM) before, during, and after lockdown periods, revealing a significant decrease in PM levels (over 50%) in 2020 compared to 2019.
  • The findings suggest that lockdowns significantly improved air quality, indicating potential for a greener environment if similar measures are taken in the future.
