Article Synopsis
  • Researchers identified two subsets of CD4-1 cells in grass carp: CD4-1 lymphocytes (Lym) and CD4-1 myeloid cells (Mye), primarily located in the head kidney.
  • mRNA expression analysis revealed high levels of CD4-1, CD4-2, TCRβ, CD3γ/δ, and LCK1 in both CD4-1 Lym and CD4-1 Mye, with CD4-1 Lym displaying T-cell characteristics and cytokine expression similar to mammalian Th cells.
  • CD4-1 Mye exhibited macrophage-like morphology and specific gene expression, showing phagocytic and antigen-processing abilities, contributing to our

Teleost B cells are primitive lymphocytes with both innate and adaptive immune functions. However, the heterogeneity and differentiation trajectory of teleost B cells remain largely unknown. In this study, the landscape of grass carp IgM+ (gcIgM+) B cells was revealed by single-cell RNA sequencing.

Complement peptides C3a, C4a, and C5a are important components of innate immunity in vertebrates. Although they diverged from a common ancestor, only C3a and C4a can act as antibacterial peptides in Homo sapiens, suggesting that C5a has evolved into a purely chemotactic molecule; however, the antibacterial properties of C3a, C4a, and C5a across vertebrates still require elucidation. In this article, we show that, unlike those in H.

Objective: Language experience can develop long-term memory traces for speech units in the brain, to ensure efficient processing of speech sounds. However, prelingually deafened children lack sufficient auditory input before cochlear implantation. Whether the experience-dependent long-term memory traces exist in prelingually deafened children with cochlear implants (CIs) remains unclear.

Objective: To understand the disease burden of patients with advanced schistosomiasis in Jiangsu Province.

Methods: Totally 450 patients with advanced schistosomiasis from southern, northern and central Jiangsu were chosen by the stratified sampling method, and surveyed by the self-designed economic burden questionnaire in 2015. The economic burden of the patients was analyzed by the descriptive analysis method, and its determinants were explored by the multiple linear regression analysis.

A modeling based on the improved Elman neural network (IENN) is proposed to analyze the nonlinear circuits with the memory effect. The hidden layer neurons are activated by a group of Chebyshev orthogonal basis functions instead of sigmoid functions in this model. The error curves of the sum of squared error (SSE) varying with the number of hidden neurons and the iteration step are studied to determine the number of the hidden layer neurons.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to explore high-risk behaviors for AIDS/STDs among fishermen in Lü-si harbor, Jiangsu province.
  • A total of 817 fishermen were surveyed, revealing that casual and commercial sex were significant risk factors, with reported rates of 18.1% and 28.9%, respectively.
  • Key risk factors included high mobility and unmarried status, while protective factors included low alcohol consumption and a later age of first sexual intercourse.
