Lignocellulosic biorefinery technology requires minimum energy consumption and wastewater generation to overcome challenges in industrial applications. This study established a rigorous model and a comprehensive physical property database of dry biorefining process on Aspen Plus platform for production including L-lactic acid, citric acid, sodium sugar acids, amino acid, and ethanol based on the experimental data. Full evaporation of wastewater (FEW) approach was proposed to completely replaced the external steam supply, and significantly reduced the freshwater input by 67% ∼ 85% and wastewater generation by 64% ∼ 89%, depending on the specific products.

Although covalent organic framework (COF)-based photocatalysts for CO reduction reaction has been widely reported, there are still some problems such as poor visible-light absorption and low activity to realize the overall reaction of CO reduction by the artificial photosynthesis strategy. Herein, anchoring the Re carbonyl complex Re(CO)Cl in a benzotrithiophene-based COF has been synthesized for artificial photosynthetic CO reduction. The photocatalytic results demonstrate that BTT-bpy-COF-Re exhibits the highest CORR activity, achieving a rate of 110.

To achieve effective long-term synergistic treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) with probiotics, we developed a versatile inulin/trans-ferulic acid/silk sericin nanoparticles-nourished probiotic complex. Inulin/TFA/SS nanoparticles were fabricated by inulin, trans-ferulic acid (TFA), and silk sericin (SS), and then loaded onto the surface of poly-l-lysine (PLL) and poly-glutamic acid (PGA)-coated Bifidobacterium longum (BL) to obtain BL@PLL-PGA-Inulin/TFA/SS NPs (BL@PP-NPs).
