Rationale: Giant intracranial aneurysms pose a significant threat due to high mortality rates upon rupture, prompting interventions such as neurosurgical clipping or endovascular coiling.

Patient Concerns: We present a rare case involving a 47-year-old female with a history of successfully treated ruptured giant intracranial aneurysms. Six months post-surgical clipping, she developed symptoms of acute ischemic stroke, prompting the decision for neurosurgical coiling and stent-assisted aneurysm coil embolization due to recurrent intracranial aneurysms.

Objective: The goal of the study was to investigate the efficacy of lipid supplement to epinephrine-based therapy in resuscitation of asphyxia-induced cardiac arrest in aged rats.

Methods: The study included two parts: in experiment A, rats underwent asphyxial cardiac arrest and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, randomized to receive epinephrine and normal saline (control group, n=22), epinephrine and intralipid 20% (long-chain triglycerides (LCT) group, n=22) or epinephrine and lipovenoes 20% (LCT/medium-chain triglcerides (MCT) group, n=22). Return of spontaneous circulation, recurrence of asystole after resuscitation, hemodynamic metrics, arterial blood gas values, neurological assessment score and indexes of pulmonary transudation were recorded.

Fluorescent microspheres with reactive sites for interacting with biomolecules are greatly demanded in flow cytometry based suspension array. Aiming to develop a new method for preparing fluorescent microspheres, two poly(p-phenyleneethylene) (PPE) conjugated polymers (CPs) with pedant carboxylic groups were synthesized via Sonogashira coupling and followed with hydrolysis of ester groups; then the conjugated polymers were immobilized onto monodispersed amino-modified porous poly(glycidylmethacrylate) (APGMA) microspheres via coupling reaction between carboxylic and amino groups to give APGMA-CP fluorescent microspheres. The fluorescent microspheres were found to have good photo- and thermal stability as well as negligible influence from rigorous washing.

Fluorescent microspheres are prepared by attaching self-assembled polydiacetylene (PDA) vesicles with carboxyl side groups onto the substrate amino-modified poly(glycidylmethacrylate) (APGMA) microspheres. The characterization by SEM, confocal microscopy and flow cytometry demonstrated that the final resulting microspheres are highly uniform both in size (with a diameter of 5 μm) and in fluorescence emission (coefficient of variance < 3%). The Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area of these spheres is 114 m g.
