Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism and DNA sample sequencing of 3 common gene variants (C282Y and H63D and S65C) were performed on 10 randomly selected samples of H63D gene variant (124 patients with sporadic amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) and 10 wild types of H63D samples (210 controls). However, the expression of aromatase (ARO) and estrogen receptors (ERs) in the motoneurons of spinal cord, has not yet been elucidated. By immunohistochemistry, we found that ARO and ERs were present in the ventral horn of adult mice lumbar spinal cord, and colocalized with SMI-32, a motoneuron specific marker.

Methods: Standard pharmacognosy methods and HPLC method were adopted, and microscopic characteristics and major chemical constituents of the test plant samples were compared.

Results: There were differences in root transverse section, powder and chemical constituents of the seven Astragalus plants.
