Background & Objectives: B cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (B-NHL) in childhood and adolescence is aggressive. Routine CHOP regimen can improve the survival rate of patients with early-stage disease, but its effect on patients with advanced disease was poor. Therefore, it is worthwhile to further investigate how to treat patients with B-NHL at different stages.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinical and pathological features of primary intestinal non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) and to discuss the relationship between clinical data and the prognostic factors.
Methods: From January 1980 to January 2000, 53 cases with primary intestinal NHL were included.
Objective: To study the clinical and imaging features together with diagnosis and management of orbital histocytosis X.
Methods: In a retrospective study from 1973 to 1999, 47 cases of histocytosis X were reviewed related with clinical materials, including eosinophilic granuloma 17 cases and Hand-Schuller- Christian disease 30 cases.
Results: Most occur in children and teenagers, mainly in male.
Background & Objective: Because there are several mechanisms of activity and toxicity and inter-individual variation in pharmaco- dynamics of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU),it is difficult to predict the sensitivity and toxicity of 5-FU in an individual patient. This study was designed to assess inter-patient variation of 5-FU steady-state plasma concentration and the relationship of plasma concentration of 5-FU with toxic side effects and therapeutic response.
Methods: Twenty patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma were treated with 5-FU combined with cisplatin(DDP).
Background & Objective: Neuroblastoma is one of common solid tumors in children. The major treatment modality for neuroblastoma (NB) is chemotherapy combined with operation or irradiation. But the survival rate is still low for advanced patients.

TUOXI (lyophilized HCPT) has higher purity and stability in comparison with solution for injection HCPT. The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy, toxicity, and proper dosage of TUOXI as single agent in treatment of advanced and recurrent solid tumors.

Cullin family proteins bind with the RING-finger protein Roc1 to recruit the ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme (E2) to the ubiquitin ligase complex (E3). Cul1 and Cul7, but not other cullins, bind to an adaptor protein, Skp1.

New prognostic factors are needed to guide the treatment of patients with NSCLC. This study was designed to evaluate the characteristics and outcome in NSCLC patients who underwent completely surgical resection.

The combination of paclitaxel and 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) in the treatment of advanced gastric cancer is effective and safe. This study was designed to evaluate the efficacy and the toxicity of paclitaxel combined with semimonthly 5-FU/Leucovorin for the AGC patients.

Objective: To explore the operational procedures, indications, and the long-term results of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) in the treatment of spontaneous pneumothorax.
Methods: One hundred seventy three cases of spontaneous pneumothorax treated with VATS in our hospital between 1995 and 2001 were analyzed. Primary spontaneous pneumothorax (PSP) was found in 157 cases and secondary spontaneous pneumothorax (SSP) in 16 cases.
Objective: To evaluate operative technique, patient selection and perioperative management of single-lung transplantation for a patients with end-stage emphysema.
Methods: A 56-year-old patient with end-stage emphysema underwent left-lung transplantation on September 28, 2002. The surgical technique used was similar to that mentioned in the literature.
Objective: To analyze the curative effect of aggressive B cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and relevant influencing factors of its prognosis.
Methods: The curative effects of aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphoma which were diagnosed as diffuse small cleaved (E), diffuse mixed (F), diffuse large cell (G) or diffuse immunoblastic lymphoma (H) pathologically and certified as B cell lymphoma immunohistologically and treated with CHOP or other ADM-containing regimens for at least 4 cycles from 1993 to 1997 were analyzed. An analysis of the correlation of prognosis with different factors was made.
Background & Objective: In most instances, advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is treated with primary chemotherapy. Many chemotherapy regimens can palliate cancer-related symptoms and modestly improve survival and quality of life. This clinical trial was designed to compare the efficacy and toxicity of two regimens: PG regimen [cisplatin and gemcitabine] versus PN regimen [cisplatin and vinorelbine].

The study was performed to compare the efficacy and toxicity of CHO (without prednisone) and standard CHOP regimen.
Methods: From June 1991 to May 1999, 53 patients with histologically and immunohistochemically proven of intermediate-grade NHL accompanied by diabetes mellitus were analyzed retrospectively.
Background & Objective: Hodgkin's disease (HD) is a chemo- and radio-sensitive hematologic malignancy. At present, improvement of cure rate, reduction of long-term toxicity, and maintenance of good quality of life are the major issues in the treatment of HD. The results of long term follow-up from Cancer Center, Sun Yat-sen University were analyzed retrospectively in terms of efficacy and late side effects in this article.

Methods: ELISA coupled with streptavidin-biotin system was used to dynamically detect the activity of protein tyrosine kinase and phosphatase in the cytoplasm and the membrane of K562 cells treated by matrine.
Background And Objective: The treatment of the patients with relapsed and refractory non-Hodgkin's lymphoma(NHL) remains difficult. It was reported that DHAP regimen(cisplatin + Ara-C + dexamthsone) was an effective salvage therapy, but there was no report about it in China. The current study was designed to observe the efficacy and toxicity of DHAP regimen for the patients with relapsed and refractory NHL.

The response rate and complete response(CR) rate are still low with short duration of response. More effective regimen was needed.

Method: The expression of several proto-oncogenes(c-myc, c-jun, H-ras, p21, and HNF-1 alpha) in K562 cell line treated by 0.2 mg/ml matrine were measured by RT-PCR.
Primary hippocampal neuronal cultures exhibited a concentration- and time-dependent loss of cells when exposed to ethanol (EtOH). EtOH-induced neurotoxicity was attenuated by 2,4-dimethoxybenzilidene anabaseine (DMXB) which selectively activates alpha7 nicotinic receptors in a concentration-dependent manner. We further investigated the mechanisms of the protective effect of DMXB on EtOH- induced neurotoxicity.
