In recent years, the industrial substitution of long-chain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) with short-chain alternatives has become increasingly prevalent, resulting in the widespread environmental detection of perfluorohexanesulfonic acid (PFHxS), a short-chain PFAS. However, there remains limited information about the potential adverse effects of PFHxS at environmental concentrations to wildlife. Here, early life stage zebrafish () were exposed to environmentally relevant concentrations of PFHxS to better characterize the adverse effects of PFHxS on aquatic organisms.

In flowering plants, pollen grain must undergo a series of critical processes, including adhesion, hydration, and germination, which are dependent on the stigma, to develop a pollen tube. This pollen tube then penetrates the stigma to reach the internal tissues of pistil, facilitating the transport of non-motile sperm cells to the embryo sac for fertilization. However, the dry stigma, characterized by the absence of an exudate that typically envelops the wet stigma, functions as a multi-layered filter in adhesion, hydration, germination and penetration that permits the acceptance of compatible pollen or tubes while rejecting incompatible ones, thereby protecting the embryo sac from ineffective fertilization and maintaining species specificity.

In this study, we investigated the role of lncRNA-NEF in modulating hepatic stellate cell (HSC) activation, a key process in liver fibrosis. Using the GSE78160 dataset, we identified lncRNA-NEF as downregulated in liver cirrhosis patients. Gene Ontology and KEGG analyses implicated it in transcriptional regulation and cell cycle control.

A novel substrate-regulated [4+1] annulation of α-imidoyl sulfoxonium ylides with diazoketones under catalyst-free conditions is described. The reaction proceeds through a coupling of sulfoxonium ylides and in situ-generated ketenes to form the key reactive zwitterionic intermediates, followed by selective formation of C-C or C-O bonds to achieve five-membered ring systems. The cascade reaction permits the direct synthesis of synthetically useful 2-indanones and 3(2)-furanones, which expands the reaction pattern of sulfoxonium ylides in annulation transformation.

Here we reported the fabrication of a novel core-shell structured magnetic cyclodextrin microporous organic network (FeO@CD-MON) for rapid magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) of four estrogens in human serum and urine samples prior to HPLC-UV determination. The uniform spherical core-shell FeO@CD-MONs was successfully regulated by altering the reactive monomers and solvents.
