Environmental conditions significantly influence the metabolic composition and quality attributes of fruits. This study investigated the impact of altitude-associated environmental variation on flavonoid profiles and fruit quality parameters by comparing the "Red Face" strawberry variety grown in two distinct locations: high-altitude-associated environmental conditions in Zhaotong and low-altitude conditions in Dandong. Using LC-MS/MS analysis, we identified 163 bioactive flavonoids, comprising 85 flavonols, 37 flavanones, 33 flavones, and 8 flavanonols.

Using point-of-sale data from 35,000 individual retailers, including more than half of all American grocery and drugstore purchases, and all American mass shootings from 2006 to 2019, we find, in a set of two-way fixed-effects counterfactual analyses, that a mass shooting in a given community (the area covered by the ZIP-3 code) predicts a significant increase in the sales of alcohol that lasts at least 2 years past the shooting.

The link between umbilical cord blood brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels and neurobehavioral outcomes in neonates has not been explored. This study investigates the correlation between alterations in umbilical cord blood BDNF levels and early neurobehavioral abnormalities in neonates born to pregnant women with SCH.

Context: There are limited real-world data evidence assessing the clinical characteristics of hospitalized osteoporotic fractures in China.
Objective: To investigate the clinical characteristics of hospitalized major osteoporotic fractures in Northeast China.
Methods: We identified hospitalized fracture patients aged 50 and over from the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinzhou Medical University between January 1, 2018, and December 31, 2022.
Introduction: The incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) has increased in recent years. Alongside traditional pharmacological treatments, nutritional therapy has emerged as a crucial aspect of T2DM management. Inulin, a fructan-type soluble fiber that promotes the growth of probiotic species like and , is commonly used in nutritional interventions for T2DM.

However, there is currently a lack of bioinformatics analysis on autophagy-related genes (ARGs) and immune infiltration in bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). We aim to screen and validate the signature genes of BPD by bioinformatics and in vivo experiment.

Phytoextraction using natural cadmium (Cd) hyperaccumulators, notably and , represents an economical and efficient approach for soil Cd purification. However, achieving high phytoremediation efficiency necessitates a comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms underlying Cd tolerance and accumulation in these plants. This review summarizes key mechanisms, encompassing Cd activation in the rhizosphere, uptake and transport in the roots, translocation the xylem, and Cd tolerance.

Background: Ogataea polymorpha, a non-conventional methylotrophic yeast, has demonstrated significant potential for heterologous protein expression and the production of high-value chemicals and biopharmaceuticals. However, the lack of precise and efficient genome editing tools severely hinders the construction of cell factories. Although the CARISP-Cas9 system has been established in Ogataea polymorpha, the gene editing efficiency, especially for multiple genes edition, needs to be further improved.

However, fewer studies have been conducted on differences in anxiety among older individuals in different aged-care models, and the interactive relationship between the influencing factors on anxiety remains unclear. The study aimed to examine the disparities in the prevalence of anxiety between community-dwelling and institutionalized older adults and related influencing factors.

The triple network model consists of three brain networks that jointly regulate cognitive and emotional processes and is considered to be the core network underlying the aberrant manifestations of ASD. This study investigated whether a mini-basketball training program (MBTP) could alter repetitive behaviors and the dynamic connectivity of the triple network.

The presence of these Aβ aggregates in the brain plays a crucial role in the pathophysiology, leading to synaptic dysfunction and cognitive impairment. Understanding how physiological factors affect Aβ aggregation is essential, and therefore, exploring their influence in vitro will likely provide insights into their role in AD pathology.

The non-kinase transmembrane cell surface glycoprotein, CD44, enhances LC cell migration and invasion, leading to drug resistance and an unfavorable prognosis. This research formulated a cisplatin-loaded gold nanoshell (HCP@GNS) integrated with hyaluronan (HCP@GNS@HA) to enhance targeting capability and realize a synergistic effect of chemo-photothermal therapy (chemo-PTT) against LC.

Nanozymes are nanomaterials with intrinsic enzyme-like properties and are important alternatives to natural enzymes. As emerging biocatalysts, nanozymes exhibit significant potential in mimicking the activity of natural enzymes, enhancing mitochondrial function, and offering novel therapeutic strategies for aging-related conditions.

Herein, we first report that secernin 2 (SCRN2), an uncharacterized gene in human cancer, acts as a novel tumor suppressor in TNBC to inhibit cancer progression and enhance therapeutic sensitivity to poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibition both in vitro and in vivo. SCRN2 is downregulated in TNBC through chaperone-mediated autophagic degradation, and its downregulation is associated with poor patient prognosis.
