Background: The decrease in S-nitrosoglutathione reductase (GSNOR) leads to an elevation of S-nitrosylation, thereby exacerbating the progression of cardiomyopathy in response to hemodynamic stress. However, the mechanisms under GSNOR decrease remain unclear. Here, we identify NEDD4 (neuronal precursor cell expressed developmentally downregulated 4) as a novel molecule that plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of pressure overload-induced cardiac hypertrophy, by modulating GSNOR levels, thereby demonstrating significant therapeutic potential.

Materials And Methods: This prospective study recruited participants between July 2023 and August 2023 who had spinal discomfort. All participants underwent two separate MRI examinations (Standard and accelerated scanning).
Background: The effect of embolization of the middle meningeal artery in patients with subacute or chronic subdural hematoma is uncertain.
Methods: We performed a multicenter, open-label, randomized trial in China, involving patients with symptomatic nonacute subdural hematoma with mass effect. Patients were assigned to undergo burr-hole drainage or receive nonsurgical treatment at the surgeon's discretion, and patients in each group were then randomly assigned, in a 1:1 ratio, to undergo middle meningeal artery embolization with liquid embolic material or to receive usual care.

Background: Conditional survival (CS) considers the duration since the initial diagnosis and can provide supplementary informative insights. Our objective was to evaluate CS among gliosarcoma (GSM) patients and develop a CS-incorporated nomogram to predict the conditional probability of survival.
Methods: This retrospective study using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database included patients with GSM between 2000 and 2017.
Background: Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is an autoimmune disease characterized by autoantibody-mediated platelet destruction. Treatment with CM313, a novel anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody, can result in targeted clearance of CD38-positive cells, including plasma cells.
Methods: We conducted a phase 1-2, open-label study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of CM313 in adult patients with ITP.
Aims: Homozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia (HoFH) is a rare disorder characterized by markedly elevated circulating low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) from birth. This review aimed to critically evaluate treatments for HoFH with respect to their efficacy, safety, accessibility, overall context and position within the treatment pathway.
Methods And Results: A mixed-methods review was undertaken to systematically identify and characterize primary interventional studies on HoFH, with a focus on LDL-C reduction as the primary outcome.
Organic amine and nanosilica were combined to create a nano-demulsifier, which was employed in the oil-water separation process of a condensate emulsion. The nano-demulsifier has the structure of hyperbranched polymers and the skeleton structure of hyperbranched nanomaterials, and displays the demulsification impact of organic amine polymers as well as the synergistic effect of nanomaterials. This nano-demulsifier has the potential to drastically reduce the quantity of condensate demulsifiers utilized in the gathering station.

Results: Herein, we present work to tackle for the first time the engineering of Y. lipolytica to produce lipids from cellodextrins and xylose by employing rational and combinatorial strategies.
Background: Currently, noninvasive arteriography for the diagnosis of coronary artery disease is clinically limited to the computed tomography scanning, where patients have to be exposed to the radiation and risks associated with iodinated contrast. We aimed to investigate the diagnostic performance and safety of a novel ferumoxytol-enhanced coronary magnetic resonance angiography (CMRA) in patients with suspected coronary artery disease.
Methods: Thirty patients, 19 males, with a median age of 63 years old, and 17 with renal insufficiency, who were scheduled for invasive coronary angiography, were enrolled.
Ovarian cancer (OC) causes high mortality in women because of ineffective biomarkers for early diagnosis. Here, we perform metabolomics analysis on an initial training set of uterine fluid from 96 gynecological patients. A seven-metabolite-marker panel consisting of vanillylmandelic acid, norepinephrine, phenylalanine, beta-alanine, tyrosine, 12-S-hydroxy-5,8,10-heptadecatrienoic acid, and crithmumdiol is established for detecting early-stage OC.

However, the biological function of PHACTR1 remains poorly understood. Here, we identified the proatherosclerotic effect of endothelial PHACTR1, contrary to macrophage PHACTR1.

Design: Prospective, non-comparative clinical study.
Methods: Penetrating canaloplasty was performed on 35 eyes from 35 patients with GS-ICE and medically uncontrolled intraocular pressure (IOP) between January 2018 and April 2020.

How metabolism impacts the tumor microenvironment (TME) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains understudied.
Methods: We investigated the role of the metabolic regulator SIRT5 in HCC development by conducting metabolomic analysis, gene expression profiling, flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry analyses in oncogene-induced HCC mouse models and human HCC samples.
Background: Sex differences in stroke outcomes are crucial to secondary prevention, but previous reports showed inconsistent results. We aimed to explore the sex differences in stroke outcomes in the Third China National Stroke Registry, a prospective multicenter registry study.
Methods: Among the 15 166 patients enrolled between 2015 and 2018, 9038 patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) were included.
Host cellular receptors play key roles in the determination of virus tropism and pathogenesis. However, little is known about SARS-CoV-2 host receptors with the exception of ACE2. Furthermore, ACE2 alone cannot explain the multi-organ tropism of SARS-CoV-2 nor the clinical differences between SARS-CoV-2 and SARS-CoV, suggesting the involvement of other receptor(s).

The aim of the present study was to examine whether first-phase ejection fraction (EF1), the ejection fraction measured in early systole up to the time of peak aortic velocity, a sensitive measure of preclinical heart failure, is associated with survival in patients hospitalized with COVID-19. A retrospective outcome study was performed in patients hospitalized with COVID-19 who underwent echocardiography (n=380) at the West Branch of the Union Hospital, Wuhan, China and in patients admitted to King's Health Partners in South London, United Kingdom.

Methods: We retrieved acute ischemic stroke patients with NIHSS score ≤5 in the CSCA study (China Stroke Center Alliance) between August 2015 and 2019.
The rapid spread of coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 greatly threatens global public health but no prophylactic vaccine is available. Here, we report the generation of a replication-incompetent recombinant serotype 5 adenovirus, Ad5-S-nb2, carrying a codon-optimized gene encoding Spike protein (S). In mice and rhesus macaques, intramuscular injection with Ad5-S-nb2 elicits systemic S-specific antibody and cell-mediated immune (CMI) responses.

A new variable B is expected to enhance the prediction of Y.
