Background: We aimed to verify the validity of the proportional recovery model for the lower extremity.
Methods: We reviewed clinical data of patients enrolled in the Korean Stroke Cohort for Functioning and Rehabilitation between August 2012 and May 2015. Recovery proportion was calculated as the amount of motor recovery over initial motor impairment, measured as the Fugl-Meyer Assessment of Lower Extremity score.
Background/aims: The prospective Crohn's Disease Clinical Network and Cohort Study is a nationwide multicenter cohort study of patients with Crohn's disease (CD) in Korea, aiming to prospectively investigate the clinical features and long-term prognosis associated with CD.
Methods: Patients diagnosed with CD between January 2009 and September 2019 were prospectively enrolled. They were divided into two cohorts according to the year of diagnosis: cohort 1 (diagnosed between 2009 and 2011) versus cohort 2 (between 2012 and 2019).
Background And Purpose: The aim of this study was to verify the validity of the proportional recovery model in view of the ceiling effect of the Fugl-Meyer Assessment.
Methods: We reviewed the medical records of patients enrolled in the Korean Stroke Cohort for Functioning and Rehabilitation between August 2012 and May 2015. Recovery proportion was defined as the actual change in Fugl-Meyer Assessment score of the upper extremity between 7 days and 6 months poststroke, relative to the initial neurological impairment.
Background: Additional study is warranted to investigate the causal effects between kidney function and obstructive lung disease.
Methods: This study was a bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomisation (MR) analysis. The Chronic Kidney Disease Genetics (CKDGen) genome-wide association study (GWAS) meta-analysis for estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) including individuals of European ancestry (n=567 460) provided the genetic instrument for kidney function and outcome summary statistics.
Background and Purpose- The theory of cognitive reserve (CR) was introduced to account for individual differences in the clinical manifestation of neuropathology. This study investigated whether CR has a modulating effect on cognitive impairment and recovery after stroke. Methods- This study is an interim analysis of the Korean Stroke Cohort for Functioning and Rehabilitation.

Objective: To investigate whether recovery from or development of MetS in a population is associated with an altered risk for MACE.
Design: Nationwide cohort study.
Background Accurate assessment of local resectability of pancreatic cancer at initial workup is critical to determine the most appropriate management strategy among up-front operation, neoadjuvant treatment, or palliative treatment. Purpose To investigate the interobserver agreement of the preoperative CT classification of the local resectability of pancreatic cancer and to determine if radiologist experience level impacts evaluation, and to evaluate the reader performance in assessing resectability at CT in a subset of patients with a reference standard for local resectability. Materials and Methods This retrospective study was composed of patients with pathologic-analysis-confirmed pancreatic cancers between January 2013 and December 2014 who underwent baseline multiphasic contrast agent-enhanced CT.

Objective: We examined the association of total serum PSA within the reference range with coronary artery calcium (CAC) score and CVD mortality.
Methods And Results: A cross-sectional study was performed in 88 203 Korean men who underwent a health checkup exam including cardiac tomography estimation of CAC score.
Hollow nanostructures such as nanocages and nanoframes can serve as advanced catalysts with their enlarged active surface areas, and hence they have been of widespread interest. Despite the recent progress in the synthesis of this class of nanomaterials, hollow nanostructures with tunable compositions and controlled morphologies have rarely been reported. Here, we report a facile synthetic route to a series of compositionally tunable, hollow mixed metal sulphide (CoNiS) octahedral nanocages.

Methods: Participants aged over 40 years who underwent health checkups were recruited. Individuals with estimated glomerular filtrations rates < 60 ml/min/1.
Osteoclast cells (OCs) are differentiated from bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMMs) by activation of receptor activator of nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) ligand (RANKL). Activation of NADPH oxidase (Nox) isozymes is involved in RANKL-dependent OC differentiation, implicating Nox isozymes as therapeutic targets for treatment of osteoporosis. Here, we show that a novel pyrazole derivative, Ewha-18278 has high inhibitory potency on Nox isozymes.

Methods: Prospective, noncomparative study included the ocular surface disease index (OSDI), tear osmolarity, corneal and conjunctival fluorescein staining, tear film breakup time (TBUT), the Schirmer I test, and meiboscore using noncontact meibography. Immunofluorescence confocal microscopy of interleukin-1β (IL1β), interleukin-6 (IL6), epidermal growth factor (EGF), and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-9 using impression cytology filter paper was performed.
Background: Clinical benefits from standard therapies against glioblastoma (GBM) are limited in part due to intrinsic radio- and chemoresistance of GBM and inefficient targeting of GBM stem-like cells (GSCs). Novel therapeutic approaches that overcome treatment resistance and diminish stem-like properties of GBM are needed.
Methods: We determined the expression levels of ubiquitination-specific proteases (USPs) by transcriptome analysis and found that USP1 is highly expressed in GBM.
Purpose: To compare magnetic resonance (MR) elastography and ultrasonographic shear-wave elastography ( SWE shear-wave elastography ) for the staging of hepatic fibrosis ( HF hepatic fibrosis ) in the same individuals.
Materials And Methods: This prospective study was approved by the institutional review board, and informed consent was obtained from all patients. The technical success of and reliable liver stiffness ( LS liver stiffness ) measurement rates at MR elastography and SWE shear-wave elastography were compared in 129 patients who underwent both examinations.
