Chemotherapy resistance is an important factor responsible for the low 5-year survival rate of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients. Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2N (UBE2N) is a cancer-associated ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme that is expressed in HCC tissues, and its high expression is associated with a poor prognosis. This study explored the role played by UBE2N in development of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) resistance in HCC cells.

Aims: Permanent pacemaker implantation and left bundle branch block are common complications after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and are associated with impaired prognosis. This study aimed to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) model for predicting conduction disturbances after TAVR using pre-procedural 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) images.

Methods And Results: We collected pre-procedural 12-lead ECGs of patients who underwent TAVR at West China Hospital between March 2016 and March 2022.

Background: Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a severe aortic disease without effective pharmacological approaches. The nuclear hormone receptor LXRα (liver X receptor α), encoded by the gene, serves as a critical transcriptional mediator linked to several vascular pathologies, but its role in AAA remains elusive.

Methods: Through integrated analyses of human and murine AAA gene expression microarray data sets, we identified as a candidate gene regulating AAA formation.

Targeted treatment of the interface between electron transport layers (ETL) and perovskite layers is highly desirable for achieving passivating effects and suppressing carrier nonradiative recombination, leading to high performance and long-term stability in perovskite solar cells (PSCs). In this study, a series of non-fullerene acceptors (NFAs, Y-H, Y-F, and Y-Cl) are introduced to optimize the properties of the perovskite/ETL interface. This optimization involves passivating Pb defects, releasing stress, and modulating carrier dynamics through interactions with the perovskite.

Generating ion-photon entanglement is a crucial step for scalable trapped-ion quantum networks. To avoid the crosstalk on memory qubits carrying quantum information, it is common to use a different ion species for ion-photon entanglement generation such that the scattered photons are far off-resonant for the memory qubits. However, such a dual-species scheme can be subject to inefficient sympathetic cooling due to the mass mismatch of the ions.

Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a progressive disease characterized by endothelial dysfunction and vascular remodeling. Despite significant advancement in our understanding of the pathogenesis of PAH in recent years, treatment options for PAH are limited and their prognosis remains poor. PAH is now seen as a severe pulmonary arterial vasculopathy with structural changes driven by excessive vascular proliferation and inflammation.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence of and personal and professional characteristics associated with burnout, psychological morbidity, job stress, and job satisfaction in Chinese neurologists.

Methods: The China Neurologist Association conducted a national cross-sectional study from September 2014 to March 2015. A questionnaire including the Maslach Burnout Inventory, the 12-item General Health Questionnaire, the Consultants' Mental Health Questionnaire, and questions assessing personal and professional characteristics, career satisfaction, and current doctor-patient relationships was administered.
