Empathy plays a crucial role in social communication and the perception of affective states and behavioral processes. In this study, we observed that empathic interaction with a mouse experiencing pain resulted in decreased mechanical pain thresholds and anxiety-like behaviors in its bystander, though the underlying mechanisms remain unknown. We demonstrated that CD38 expression in the paraventricular nucleus (PVN) was upregulated during empathic pain, and the pain and emotions of CD38 knockout (CD38KO) mice as bystanders were not affected.

Farnesyl pyrophosphate synthase (FPPS) is a key enzyme in the terpenoid biosynthesis pathway, responsible for converting isopentenyl pyrophosphate (IPP) and dimethylallyl pyrophosphate (DMAPP) into farnesyl pyrophosphate (FPP). In crustaceans, FPPS plays an important role in various physiological processes, particularly in synthesizing the crustacean-specific hormone methyl farnesoate (MF). This study analyzed the evolutionary differences in the physicochemical properties, subcellular localization, gene structure, and motif composition of FPPS in (named NdFPPS) compared to other species.

The involvement of Loose Plant Architecture 1 (LPA1) in regulating plant growth and leaf angle has been previously demonstrated. However, the fundamental genetic background remains unidentified. To further understand the tissue expression profile of the NtLPA1 gene, an overexpression vector (pBI121-NtLPA1) was developed and employed to modify tobacco using the leaf disc method genetically.

Aromaticity is one of the most classical concepts in the field of modern chemistry and has been employed to explain and design substances with special stability. Although the knowledge about Hückel's and Baird's rules has been well established, the understanding of Möbius aromaticity remains extremely limited. In this letter, by employing density functional theory (DFT) calculations, we demonstrated that the four-membered VIB transition metal (TM) carbide clusters possess a highly stable open-shell planar tetrameric structure and exhibit double Möbius aromaticity, which was evidenced by analyzing multiple aromaticity criteria, including the electronic, magnetic, and energetic indicators.

This study investigates the impact of the weight and centre of mass (COM) position of Head-Mounted Displays (HMDs) on the subjective evaluation of users during prolonged wearing tasks. This study involved 88 participants completing 1860 sets of experiments under three conditions: sitting still, turning the head, and moving, providing subjective evaluations of wearing HMDs. A static torque testing device was used to simulate neck torque under flexion states.
