Background And Objectives: The role of N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor 2B (GRIN2B) single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in influencing the risk and progression of Parkinson's disease (PD) is still unclear. This study aimed to assess the impact of GRIN2B genotype status on PD susceptibility and symptom progression.
Methods: We enrolled 165 individuals with sporadic PD and 154 healthy controls, all of whom had comprehensive clinical data available at the start and during follow-up.
This study examined the removal and toxicity reduction of mixed pharmaceutically active compounds (PhACs), including carbamazepine, erythromycin, gemfibrozil, and diclofenac, in the UV/HO tandem with biologically activated carbon (UV/HO-BAC) process and explored potential detoxification mechanisms. Results indicated that the combined process effectively removed the mixed PhACs, with the UV/HO segment being the primary contributor. As distinct from concentration removal, the effluent toxicity significantly increased after UV/HO treatment.

Rsearch has indicated that histone deacetylases (HDACs) are pivotal in the pathogenesis of ischemic stroke. We introduce a novel HDACs inhibitor, HDI-1, as a potential therapeutic strategy for this condition.

Ensuring sustainable management of water is an indispensable part of sustainable development, however, the limelight on long-term health risk of water hardness is essential but remains inadequate. This study estimated effects of water hardness on the brain system to refine its systemic risk assessment. We assembled a cohort of 397,265 participants from the UK Biobank to investigate the associations of water hardness with neurodegenerative diseases and brain imaging phenotypes through modeling.
