Background: In Alzheimer's disease (AD), a major gap remains in the understanding of how the interplay between peripheral and central immune systems drives neuroinflammation and disease progression. More recently, the concept of brain lymph drainage has sparked interest as it may shed light on how the dynamics of T cell interactions contribute to AD. Our preliminary study aims to characterize alterations in the peripheral blood lymphocyte population among individuals with AD-dementia and mild cognitive impairment (MCI), as compared with cognitively unimpaired (CU) individuals.

Background: Despite the health and societal burden that Alzheimer's disease (AD) has on the elderly population, the underlying cause is not fully understood. Researchers are investigating possible mechanisms, and current studies have suggested that a number of comorbidities increase/decrease the likelihood of AD onset. The aim of the current study was to explore the associations between various comorbidities and AD in older Australians from an epidemiological perspective.

Dementia Care Research and Psychosocial Factors.

Background: Mobile health applications have the potential to enhance dementia care and promote well-being among older adults living independently. This systematic review aims to synthesise and evaluate the existing evidence on the effectiveness of mobile applications developed to improve or maintain cognitive function among older adults diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia.

Method: A systematic search was conducted across major electronic databases, including PubMed, The Cochrane Library, Embase, and PsycInfo, to identify relevant studies published from 2012 to 2023.

This study aimed to assess the validity and reliability of a questionnaire on patient acceptance of orthodontic retainers. The original questionnaire was forward- and backward-translated, followed by four validity tests (content validity, face validity, construct validity, criterion validity) and two reliability tests (test-retest reliability, internal consistency). Content validity was assessed by nine orthodontists who appraised the questionnaire's representativeness, relevance, clarity, and necessity.

Perspectives of residential aged care staff on the management of occupational burnout: A qualitative interview study.

With a rising population of older adults, demand for residential aged care services has grown significantly. Older adults living in residential aged care are typically older and more highly dependent on care, than those living in the community. Staff working in such services experience high workloads and attend to residents with complex health care needs.
