Ischemic stroke (IS), a cerebrovascular condition, is commonly detected by evaluating carotid intima-media (CIA) stenosis. Symptomatic CIA stenosis carries a high risk (up to 32%) of another ischemic event within 12 weeks, while asymptomatic CIA stenosis has an annual risk ranging from 1% to 2%. Therefore, this study aims to explore the diagnostic value of clinical features and carotid plaque characteristics in both symptomatic and asymptomatic IS.

Genetic and genomic variation among microbial strains can dramatically influence their phenotypes and environmental impact, including on human health. However, inferential methods for quantifying these differences have been lacking. Strain-level metagenomic profiling data has several features that make traditional statistical methods challenging to use, including high dimensionality, extreme variation among samples, and complex phylogenetic relatedness.

Radiomics has made considerable progress in neurodegenerative diseases. However, previous studies only explored the feasibility of radiomics in clinical applications. Therefore, the objective of this study was to obtain the most relevant radiomics features with the aging changes of myelin proteins and compare their diagnostic performances with the diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) parameters to identify the reliability of these features as imaging biomarkers for assessing brain aging.

Maltose-binding protein (MBP) and glutathione S-transferase (GST) are widely used solubility-enhancing protein tags, typically employed to address various issues related to protein expression and purification. The detection of these tags are usually achieved through binding of corresponding antibodies. Designing low-cost binders as alternatives to antibodies is of great significance.

To assess the effectiveness and safety of Sacubitril/Valsartan in reducing blood pressure in individuals with non-dialysis-dependent chronic kidney disease (NDD-CKD) Stage 3-5 complicated by hypertension. This study was a multicenter retrospective analysis conducted from March 1, 2022 to March 31, 2024, involving adult patients with NDD-CKD Stage 3-5 and hypertension, who received Sacubitril/Valsartan either as a monotherapy or in addition to current antihypertensive treatments that were insufficient. The main outcomes measured were blood pressure control, changes in blood pressure and laboratory parameters within 8 weeks post-treatment initiation, and incidence of adverse events.
