Incidence of Fatigue Following Dexamethasone Administration for Supportive Therapy and Efficacy of Tapering in Perioperative Chemotherapy for Breast Cancer: A Retrospective Observational Study.

In perioperative chemotherapy for breast cancer, dexamethasone (DEX) is administered at high dose to prevent adverse effects. Abrupt cessation of high-dose DEX treatment induces fatigue, but the incidence of the fatigue is uncertain. In this study, we retrospectively evaluated the incidence of fatigue following DEX administration for supportive therapy and the improvement of fatigue with DEX tapering, a gradual reduction of the daily dose, in breast cancer patients.

Evaluation of Sedation Levels Using SedLine During Intravenous Sedation for Dental Procedures: A Case-Series Study.

The Patient State Index (PSI) is the numerical value of anesthesia depth as measured using a SedLine Sedation Monitor (Masimo Corporation). In this pilot study, we evaluated PSI values captured during intravenous (IV) moderate sedation for dental treatment. During the dental treatment, a dental anesthesiologist maintained the Modified Observer's Assessment of Alertness/Sedation (MOAA/S) score at 3 to 4 by adjusting the administration of midazolam and propofol while PSI values were recorded.

The Caulobacter crescentus DciA promotes chromosome replication through topological loading of the DnaB replicative helicase at replication forks.

The replicative DNA helicase translocates on single-stranded DNA to drive replication forks during chromosome replication. In most bacteria the ubiquitous replicative helicase, DnaB, co-evolved with the accessory subunit DciA, but how they function remains incompletely understood. Here, using the model bacterium Caulobacter crescentus, we demonstrate that DciA plays a prominent role in DNA replication fork maintenance.
