Predictors of sleepiness in a large-scale epidemiology study ESSE-RF.

Introduction: To identify predictors of excessive daytime sleepiness we analyzed data from the 'Epidemiology of cardiovascular diseases in regions of Russia (ESSE-RF)' study.

Methods: Data from participants of the cohort study ESSE-RF (2012-2013), aged 25-64 years, from 13 regions of Russia were analyzed (2012-2013). The participants were interviewed regarding their sleep complaints, including difficulties with initiating and maintaining sleep, sleepiness, and use of sleeping pills.

An international multicenter observational non-interventional prospective study of the efficacy of azilsartan medoxomil in overweight or obese patients with arterial hypertension (CONSTANT).

Background: Control of arterial hypertension in obese or overweight patients is complicated since obesity directly contributes to increased blood pressure, requiring new, highly effective antihypertensive drugs. This study evaluates the efficacy of azilsartan medoxomil in real clinical practice.

Methods: An international multicenter observational non-interventional prospective study of azilsartan medoxomil was conducted in 64 clinical centers in the Russian Federation and 5 centers in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

[Epicardial adipose tissue as a marker of visceral obesity and its association with metabolic parameters and remodeling of the left chambers of the heart in young people with abdominal obesity].

Aim: to study the correlation of epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) with metabolic parameters, 24-hours profile of blood pressure (BP) and left ventricular remodeling, with the volume of intraabdominal adipose tissue (IAAT), measured by multislice computed tomography (MSCT) in patients with abdominal obesity and metabolic syndrome.

Materials And Methods: the study included 80 participants with abdominal obesity (waist circumference > 80 cm in women and >94 cm in men) and without cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. Within this study the following examinations were performed: waist circumference and the body mass index measurement, blood sampling and measurements of lipid levels, uric acid, fasting glucose, insulin, HOMA index, 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.

[Sleep disorders and stroke: data of the esse-rf study].

Aim: To assess the association between stroke and self-reported sleep disorders in the epidemiological studies of cardiovascular diseases in various regions of Russia (ESSE-RF).

Material And Methods: A questionnaire survey included unorganized male and female population, aged 25 to 64 years, from 13 regions of the Russian Federation. In the analysis, answers to the question related to history of stroke: 'Did the doctor ever tell you that you had / had the following diseases?' (the 'Diseases' module) were included.

Overweight and Obesity in the Russian Population: Prevalence in Adults and Association with Socioeconomic Parameters and Cardiovascular Risk Factors.

Objective: To evaluate the prevalence and geographic distribution of overweight and obesity in Russian adults aged 25-64 years as well as the association between chronic risk factors and obesity.

Methods: Data were obtained from the survey "Epidemiology of Cardiovascular Diseases and Its Risk Factors in Some Regions of the Russian Federation" (ESSE-RF). This is a large cross-sectional multicenter population-based study that included interviews and medical examination (anthropometry, blood pressure [BP] measurement, and laboratory analysis) applied in 2012-2014.
