Effects of switching from intravitreal injection of aflibercept to faricimab on ocular blood flow in patients with diabetic macular edema.

We assessed the short-term effects of switching from intravitreal aflibercept (IVA) to intravitreal faricimab (IVF) on ocular blood flow in patients with treatment-resistant diabetic macular edema (DME). The medical records of 15 patients with DME who had received IVA injection ≥ 3 months before were retrospectively reviewed. The best-corrected visual acuity, central macular thickness (CMT) on optical coherence tomography, and mean blur rate (MBR) of all disc areas on laser speckle flowgraphy were measured before, 1 week after, and 4 weeks after IVA and IVF, respectively.

Impending central retinal vein occlusion and granulomatous uveitis in a patient with Satoyoshi syndrome.

Rationale: Satoyoshi syndrome is a rare systemic autoimmune disease that presents with painful muscle spasms. We report a case of impending central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) secondary to granulomatous pan-uveitis in a 32-year-old woman with Satoyoshi syndrome.

Patient Concerns: At the age of 7 years, she developed generalized hair loss and painful spasms and was diagnosed with Satoyoshi syndrome.

Functionalised Mn(VI)-nanoparticles: an advanced high-valent magnetic catalyst.

We discover Mn(VI)-nanoparticles (NPs) bearing functional groups, high oxidation state, strong electron affinity, unique redox and paramagnetic nature, which opens up a new avenue to catalysis, magnetism and material application. However, its synthesis is challenging and remains unexplored because of associated serious difficulties. A simple benign synthetic strategy is devised to fabricate the high-valent NPs using mild reducing agent bromide, which transformed Mn(VII) to valuable Mn(VI)-species.

Efficient catalytic cyclizations of three and two imine assemblies: direct access to tetrahydroimidazo[1,5-c]imidazol-7-ones and imidazoles.

A cascade cyclization involving union of three imines by an organocatalyst proline is established to afford new fused-tetrahydroimidazo[1,5-c]imidazol-7-ones with excellent regio- and stereoselectivity. Another dehydrogenative cyclization by union of two imines is developed using the Cu(OTf)(2)-Ag(2)O combo catalyst to furnish functionalized imidazoles.
