Human identification by medical findings in a forensic anthropology context.

Unlabelled: This article presents a series of three complex forensic cases that posed significant challenges for identifying human remains. These include a mass dam disaster, burnt human remains, and extensively decomposed human remains. Positive identification was achieved using a shadow positioning technique with imaging comparisons of medical findings.

Lipids from the purple and white açaí ( Mart) varieties: nutritional, functional, and physicochemical properties.

The Brazilian superfruit called Açaí or Assaí has gained interested from researcher and consumers worldwide, due to its health-related properties. In this context, this pioneering study aimed to compare the physicochemical, nutritional, and thermal properties of vegetable oils obtained from two varieties of açaí (), purple and white. Both açaí oils from white (WAO) and purple (PAO) varieties were obtained by using the conventional solid-liquid extraction, which resulted in oil yields ranging from 52 to 61%.

The "microwave oven" practice in Brazil.

This article presents a forensic case of an unusual illegal cremation of a person using a process colloquially known as the "microwave oven" practice in Brazil. The microwave process involves two actions: placing the victim in a tire stack and then setting the structure on fire using flammable substances to accelerate the progression. A similar practice, identified as "necklacing", has also been reported in other countries such as South Africa.

Psychosocial impact of malocclusion in the school performance. A Hierarchical Analysis.

Objective: To identify any association between the psychosocial impact of malocclusion and academic performance in adolescents.

Methods: Cross-sectional study in a sample of 297 adolescents aged 10 to 14 years old enrolled in public schools. A self-complete questionnaire enquiring about socioeconomic, demographic, and psychological characteristics and the Psychosocial Impact of Dental Aesthetics Questionnaire (PIDAQ) was administered in classrooms.
