Moral disagreement in everyday life: An inductive framework for capturing 'moral order'.

The study of morality outside of sociology can be improved, we demonstrate, with greater attention paid to aspects of situated interaction beyond abstract moral principles. We propose an inductive framework that focuses on the bottom-up, situationally framed aspects underlying moral disputes, including types of situational setting, contextual cues, and roles and relationships of involved parties. In clear-cut cases like murder, consensus on right or wrong emerges easily, influenced by either intentions or consequences.

Neonicotinoid and bisamide insecticides in wild freshwater fish from the Wanquan River, Hainan, China: Factors affecting tissue distribution and a risk assessment.

A growing number of studies have reported that neonicotinoid (NEO) and bisamide (BIS) insecticides are widespread in multimedium; however, limited information is available on their occurrence in wild freshwater fish. Therefore, in the Wanquan River with national aquatic germplasm resource reserves in Hainan, China, 502 fish containing 22 species were collected to investigate the occurrence of twelve NEOs and six BISs. Genetic variation modulates susceptibility to aberrant DNA hypomethylation and imprint deregulation in naive pluripotent stem cells.

Naive pluripotent stem cells (nPSCs) frequently undergo pathological loss of DNA methylation at imprinted gene loci, posing a hurdle for biomedical applications and underscoring the need to identify underlying causes. We show that nPSCs from inbred mouse strains exhibit strain-specific susceptibility to locus-specific deregulation of imprinting marks during reprogramming and upon exposure to a mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) inhibitor, a common approach to maintain naive pluripotency. Analysis of genetically diverse nPSCs from the Diversity Outbred (DO) stock confirms the impact of genetic variation on epigenome stability, which we leverage to identify trans-acting quantitative trait loci (QTLs) that modulate DNA methylation levels at specific targets or genome-wide.

Glutamine binds HSC70 to transduce signals inhibiting IFN-β-mediated immunogenic cell death.

Glutamine plays a role in cell signaling that regulates gene expression and impacts tumorigenesis. However, it is still unclear how glutamine transduces signals in cells. Here, we show that glutamine binds to heat shock cognate protein 70 (HSC70) to stimulate the deubiquitinase otubain domain containing protein (OTUD4) independently of known glutamine metabolic or signaling pathways, resulting in lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA) stabilization via the microautophagy-lysosome pathway, increased lactate production and decreased expression of interferon (IFN)-β and its targets, hallmarks of immunogenic cell death (ICD).

Three physical modifications enhanced the binding interactions of Cyperus esculentus protein with proanthocyanidins and physicochemical properties of complexes: The contribution of non-covalent interactions.

This study investigated non-covalent interactions between unmodified/modified (ball-milling, BMP; high pressure homogenization, HPHP; cold plasma, CPP) Cyperus esculentus protein (CEP) and proanthocyanidins (PA and PB2) to evaluate structure, functionalities and potential in emulsions. The PA and PB2 addition significantly increased the turbidity and ζ-potential of CEP samples, as confirmed by aggregations observed via atomic force microscopy, validating the formation of protein-proanthocyanidin complexes. Fluorescence quenching and isothermal titration calorimetry revealed that procyanidins caused CEP sample static quenching, with CEP-proanthocyanidins binding affinity order as CPP > HPHP>BMP > CEP.
