White matter hyperintensity (WMH) is associated with cognitive impairment. In this study, 79 patients with WMH from hospital 1 were randomly divided into a training set (62 patients) and an internal validation set (17 patients). In addition, 29 WMH patients from hospital 2 were used as an external validation set.

Background: Understanding the impact of psychosocial factors and pain management on cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk and life expectancy in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) is critical for developing targeted interventions. We aimed to assess the associations of social isolation, loneliness, and pain risk with incident CVD in patients with CKD and to evaluate the impact of these factors on the life expectancy of CKD patients.

Objective: To investigate the relationship between platelet indices (count, size and production/immaturity) and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

Study Design: This was a secondary analysis of a prospective cohort of pregnant individuals followed from first trimester through delivery at an academic tertiary care institution. Routine platelet indices obtained prospectively during prenatal care and delivery were compared between those who developed a hypertensive disorder of pregnancy and those who did not.

Circadian rhythm modulation in heart rate variability as potential biomarkers for major depressive disorder: A machine learning approach.

Major depressive disorder (MDD) is associated with reduced heart rate variability (HRV), but its link to circadian rhythm modulation (CRM) of HRV is unclear. Given that depression disrupts circadian rhythms, assessing HRV fluctuations may better capture the CRM and the related autonomic nervous system (ANS) alterations, potentially enhancing our understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms of MDD. This study aimed to explore the relationship between CRM of HRV and MDD, and to identify potential biomarkers for MDD using machine learning (ML).

When neutral water is sprayed, oppositely charged microdroplets are formed. The close approach of oppositely charged microdroplets causes an electrical discharge and leads to luminescent emission. The light emission happens without any external voltage applied, and the electrical discharge is sufficiently energetic to excite, dissociate, or ionize surrounding neutral gas molecules.
