In many low- and middle-income countries, school children consume untreated water that has been pumped into storage tanks. The water is often of poor quality and consumption can cause gastrointestinal illnesses resulting in missed school days, growth stunting, and cognitive impairment. However, its contributions to the oral microbiome remain less clear, due to the confounding effects of geography and methodology in investigations of populations studied to date. Furthermore, while the oral microbiome seems to differ between foraging and industrialized populations, we lack insight into whether transitions to and away from agrarian lifestyles shape the oral microbiota.

This ring closure reaction underwent via reductive cyclization in the presence of a sodium borohydride-aluminium chloride system. Ten diverse 5H-benzo[c]fluorene derivatives were prepared and evaluated for antiproliferative activity against three human cancer cell lines by SRB assay.
